Bu çalışma, Isparta bölgesinde yasayan farklı eğitim düzeylerindeki postmenopozal kadınların osteoporoz hakkındaki bilgilerini ölçmek, osteoporoz hakkında eğitim vererek, eğitimin günlük kalsiyum alimi, sigara tüketimi ve egzersiz yapma gibi osteoporozu etkileyen faktörler üzerindeki etkisini değerlendirmek amacıyla yapıldı. Bu prospektif çalışmaya Haziran 2002-Aralık 2002 tarihleri arasında Süleyman Demirel Üniversitesi Tip Fakültesi Fiziksel Tip ve Rehabilitasyon Anabilim Dalı Osteoporoz polikliniğine başvuran ve eğitim programına katılmaya gönüllü 92 postmenopozal hasta alındı. Hastalar eğitim seviyelerine göre ilköğretim ve lise-üniversite mezunu olarak 2 gruba ayrıldı. Hastalar ayni eğitim düzeyine sahip 10'ar kişilik gruplar halinde osteoporoz hastalığı hakkında bilgi verilen bir eğitime çağırıldı. Eğitim seansının öncesinde hastaların hastalık hakkındaki bilgileri Ungan ve arkadaşları tarafından Türk kadınlarının osteoporoz hakkındaki bilgilerini değerlendirmek için geliştirilen, geçerliliği ve güvenilirliği önceden doğrulanan anket ile ölçüldü. Osteoporoz eğitimi tüm hastalara ayni kişi tarafından ve barkovizyonla slayt gösterisi seklinde verildi. Başlangıçta osteoporoz hakkında genel bilgiler anlatıldı. Bu bilgiler osteoporozun tanımı, nedenleri, risk faktörleri, klinik bulguları, tanı yöntemleri, tedavi metotları, osteoporozdan korunma yolları ve osteoporoz egzersizlerinden oluşuyordu. Slaytta gösterilen egzersizlerin unutulabileceği düşünülerek egzersizler form olarak dağıtıldı. Eğitim sonrasında hastaların soruları cevaplandırıldı. Eğitimden sonra hastaların kemik mineral yoğunlukları DEXA cihazı ile ölçüldü. Eğitimden 1 ay sonra hastalar telefonla aranarak eğitim öncesi uygulanan anket tekrarlanarak hastaların bilgi düzeyi ölçüldü. 6 ay sonra hastalar yeniden telefonla arandı ve ayni anket tekrar verilerek günlük kalsiyum alimi ve haftalık egzersiz miktarı gibi yasam biçimleri değerlendirildi. DEXA sonuçlarına göre osteoporozu olan ve olmayan hastaların yasam biçimlerindeki değişiklikler karsılaştırıldı. Çalışmamızda her iki eğitim grubu arasında demografik özellikler yönünden fark yoktu. Her iki eğitim grubunun da eğitim sonrası anket puanlarında istatistiksel olarak anlamlı artış bulundu. Osteoporozu olan hastalar bir alt grup olarak alındığında, bu hastalarda eğitim sonrasında anket puanlarında artış olmadı. Lise-üniversite grubu ve osteoporozu olmayanlarda eğitim sonrasında kalsiyum tüketimi artarken, ilköğretim grubu ve osteoporozu olan hastalarda istatistiksel olarak anlamlı bir artış saptanmadı. Egzersiz yönünden değerlendirildiğinde ise hiçbir grupta istatistiksel olarak anlamlı bir artış saptanmadı. Sonuç olarak osteoporoz konusunda verilen eğitimin hastaların osteoporoz hakkındaki bilgilerini ve aldıkları kalsiyum miktarını arttırdığı saptanmıştır. Hastaları eğitim düzeyi ile eğitim sonrası edinilen bilgi düzeyi ve kalsiyum tüketimi doğru orantılı olarak bulunmuştur.
This study is done with the purpose of assessing knowledge about osteoporosis of the postmenopausal women from different education levels who live in Isparta region, giving education about osteoporosis and then evaluating the effects of education on the factors that effect osteoporosis such as daily calcium intake, cigarette consumption and exercise. 92 postmenopausal patients who referred to Süleyman Demirel University, Faculty of Medicine, Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Department, Osteoporosis Outpatient Clinics and who were volunteer to participate the education program were internalized to this prospective study. The patients were divided into two groups as primary school graduates and high school-university graduates according to their education levels. The patients were divided into groups consisting of 10 patients with same education level and then called for an education program about osteoporosis. Before the education session, the patient knowledge about the disease was assessed by the questionnaire that was developed by Ungan et al. The questionnaire's validity and reliability was confirmed formerly. Education about osteoporosis was given to all of the people by the same persons and was presented by a slide show using barcovision. Initially, general information about the disease was given. This information included definition, causes, risk factors clinical findings, diagnosis and treatment methods of osteoporosis, ways to avoid osteoporosis and exercises for osteoporosis. After the education, bone mineral density of the patients were measured by DEXA apparatus. 1 month after the education, the patient were called by telephone and the knowledge levels of the patients were assessed by repeating the same questionnaire. 6 months later, the patients were again called and the life styles were evaluated such as daily calcium intake and exercicises amount. The changes in the life styles of patients that have and that does not have osteoporosis due to DEXA results were compared. In our study, there was no differences between the educated and uneducated groups about the demographical features. There was a statistically significant increase between the after education questionnaire scores of the educated and uneducated groups. When the patients that have osteoporosis were taken as a subgroup, there was no increase in the scores of these patients after the education. Calcium intake of the educated group and people without osteoporosis was increased after the education but there was no statistically significant increase in that of the people with osteoporosis. When evaluated for exercises, there was no statistically significant increase in any groups. As a result, it was determined that education about osteoporosis improved the knowledge about osteoporosis and the calcium intake of the patients. It was found that there is direct proportion between the education levels of the patients and the after-education knowledge level and calcium intake.
