Bu araştırmada lise yaş grubu gençlerin kişisel hijyen alışkanlıkları ile ilgili bilgi, tutum, davranışlarını saptamayı, gençlerimizi bilinçlendirmek için eğitim vermeyi ve eğitim sonuçlarını değerlendirmeyi amaçladık. Araştırma 09 Kasım 2004 - 09 Mayıs 2005 tarihleri arasında yapılmış bir müdahale araştırmasıdır. Rastgele örnekleme yöntemi ile müdahale grubu olarak Isparta ili Senirkent ilçesi çok programlı liseden 200, kontrol grubu olarak Uluborlu ilçesi çok programlı liseden 200 olmak üzere toplam 400 öğrenci seçilmiştir. Öncelikle öğrencilere eğitim öncesi dönemde kontrol ve müdahale grubunun durumunu görmek ve eğitim sonrası dönemle karşılaştırmak için bir anket uygulandı. Müdahale grubuna hazırlanan eğitim formu aracılığıyla iki grup halinde 45 dakikalık eğitim yapıldı. 6 ay sonra tekrar tüm öğrencilere aynı anket uygulanarak eğitimin etkisi araştırılmıştır. Toplanan veriler bilgisayarda SPSS 11.0 programında değerlendirilmiştir. Eğitim öncesi dönemde, müdahale ve kontrol grupları karşılaştırıldığında tüm parametrelerin oranlarında küçük artma veya azalma olmasına karşın istatistiksel olarak anlamlı fark bulunmamıştır. Araştırmada; öğrencilerin % 40.0'ı kız, annelerinin % 86.3'ü ev hanımı ve % 62.0'ı ilkokul mezunu, babalarının % 34.0'ı işçi, % 35.3'ü ilkokul mezunuydu. Grubun % 73.0'nın ekonomik durumu orta, % 60.8'i müstakil evde oturuyor, oturulan evin % 90.5'inde tuvalette lavabo var ve % 99,3'ünde evde banyo vardı. Eğitim sonrası dönemde; haftada 2 kez banyo yapma, haftada 2 kez iç çamaşırı değiştirme, her gün çorap değiştirme, tuvaletten sonra el yıkama, günde 2 kez diş fırçalama, hijyenin tanımını doğru yapanların oranlarında artışlar ve açıkta satılan yiyecekleri alanların oranında azalma görülmüştür. Sonuçta, lise yaş grubundaki öğrencilere hijyen eğitimi verilmesi etkili olmaktadır. Eğitim sonrası dönemde hem müdahale ve kontrol grubu arasında hem de müdahale grubunun eğitim öncesi dönemine göre anlamlı ve olumlu değişmeler olmuştur ve gençlerin kişisel hijyen uygulamalarını yapma oranları artmıştır. Hijyen eğitiminin öğrencilere daha planlı ve yaygın olarak yapılmasının yararlarının ve sonuçlarının etkili ve verimli olacağı düşünülmekte olup milli eğitim müfredatına eklenmesi önerilebilir. In this study, we aimed to; determine knowledge, attitudes, behaviors of teenage groups related to their personal hygienic habits and effect of given education, give education for our teenagers to inform them about hygiene and evaluate the results. The study is an intervention which was made between 9th November 2004 and 9th May 2005. 200 students from Isparta Senirkent Multi-Programmed(purpose) High School with random sampling method and 400 students from Uluborlu Multi-Programmed (purpose) High School as a control group were selected. Initially, a questionnaire was applied to students in order to check them in pre-education period and see the situation of intervention group and compare them in post-education period. An education for 45 minutes was made by two groups with the help of form which was prepared for intervention group. Six months later, the effect of education was searched by applying the same questionnaire to all students. The data collected from teenagers was evaluated with SPSS computer proramme. In pre-education period, when intervention and control groups are compared, although there is a small increase or decrease in all rates of parameters, a meaningful (obvious) difference couldn't be found. In this study, 40 % of girls were students, 86.3% of their mothers were housewives and 62,0% of them graduated from primary school. Fathers' 34,0 % were workers, and 35,3 % of them graduated from primary school. Groups' 73.0 % economic situation were middle. 60.8 % of them were living in houses. There were washbasin 90,5 % in toilets of homes and bathrooms 99.3 % of homes where they live. In the post education period, having bath twice a week, changing underwear clothes twice a week, changing socks everyday, washing hands after toilet, brushing teeth twice a week, using of hygienic pads by girls in their special days, having towel which belongs to him/her, increase in the rate of the students who defines hygien correctly and a decrease in the rates of students who buy food selling outdoor were observed. Finally, education of teenagers about hygiene has been impressive. In the post-education period, it has been a clear and positive changes in both between intervention and control groups with respect to pre-education period of intervention group and the rate of teenagers who uses hygienic rules in their life increased. It was considered that benefits and results of educating students about hygiene more regularly and widely will be effective and beneficial. It can be proposed to add this hygiene education to our National Education Curriculum. Key words: Education, Hygiene, Isparta, Teenagers, Intervention.
