Çalışmamızın amacı, büyüme ve gelişim dönemindeki Sınıf II bireylerde RME uygulamasının servikal headgear kullanımının etkinliğini arttırıp arttırmadığını incelemektir. Çalışmamızın materyali, 32 adet sınıf II bölüm 1 malokluzyona sahip bireyin tedavi başı ve tedavi sonunda alınan 64 adet lateral sefalometrik filminden oluşmaktadır. Bireyler her grupta 16 olacak şekilde iki gruba ayrılmışır. (8 kız, 8 erkek) Birinci grupta servikal headgear ile birlikte maksiller aparey uygulanırken, ikinci grupta RME tedavisini takiben servikal headgear uygulanmıştır. Tedavi sonucunda, tedavi ile oluşan değişikliklerin grup içi karşılaştırmaları, grupların tedavi başı-tedavi sonu karşılaştırmaları ve gruplar arası farkların karşılaştırılmaları için sırası ile Wilcoxon testi, Mann-Whitney U testi ve unpaired t testi kullanılmıştır. Çalışmamızın sonuçlarına göre, 1- Maksiller ve mandibular iskeletsel değişiklikler, tedavi grupları arasında benzerdir. 2- Maksiller ve mandibular dental değişiklikler gruplar arasında istatistiksel olarak anlamlı fark göstermemektedir. 3- Tedavi grupları arasında mandibular ve palatal düzlem eğimlerindeki rotasyon miktarları benzerdir. 4- Üst ve alt dudağın geriye hareket miktarı gruplar arasında istatistiksel olarak anlamlı fark göstermemektedir. The aim of this study was to determine whether RME application induces the efficiency of cervical headgear treatment in Class II patients during growth and development period. The material of this study was composed of 64 lateral cephalometric radiographs of 32 patients with skelatal Class II division 1 maloccusion taken before and at the end of the treament proocol. Patients were divided into two groups with 16 individuals in each. (8 girls and 8 boys) Cervical headgear was applied in combination with a maxillary appliance to the patients in the first group. Patients received RME treatment prior to cervical headgear application in the second group. At the end of the treatment period, treatment changes in the each group, mean values at the end and start of treatment and the differences between groups were compared performing Wilcoxon test, Mann-Whitney U test and unpaired t test respectively. Our results indicate that; 1- Maxillary and mandibular skeletal changes were similar between the groups. 2- Maxillary and mandibular dental changes showed no statistically significant differences between the groups. 3- Amount of mandibular and palatal plane rotations were similar between the treatment groups. 4- The amount of backward movement of the upper land lower lips showed no statistically significant differences between the groups.
