Bu çalışma, kanser hastalarının yaşam kalitesi, semptom kontrolü ve tamamlayıcı ve alternatif tıp kullanım durumlarını incelemek amacıyla tanımlayıcı tipte yapılmıştır. Araştırmanın örneklemini Süleyman Demirel Üniversitesi Araştırma ve Uygulama Hastanesi Onkoloji Kliniklerinde ve Ayaktan Kemoterapi Ünitesinde 30 Eylül 2011- 29 şubat 2012 tarihleri arasında tedavi gören 153 kanser hastası oluşturmuştur. Araştırmada veri toplama araçları olarak; Kişisel Bilgi Formu, Tamamlayıcı ve Alternatif Tıp Yaklaşımları Ölçeği, Nightingale Semptom Değerlendirme Ölçeği ve EORTC QLQ-C30 (version 3.0) YaŞam Kalitesi Ölçeği kullanılmıŞtır. Hastaların yaş sınırları 24-83 olarak saptanmış olup; yaş ortalaması 55.15±12.70'dir. Hastaların %57.5'i kadın, %65'i ise erkektir. TAT yöntemini kullanan hastaların oranı %14.3'dür. Hastaların cinsiyetlerine göre TAT Ölçeği Skorları arasında istatistiksel olarak anlamlı bir fark saptanmamıştır (p>0,05).Hastaların cinsiyetleri, hastalığın süresi, aylık geliri ve hastaların yaŞına göre NSDÖ Skorları arasında anlamlı bir iliŞki saptanmıştır (p<0.05). Hastaların medeni durumuna göre EORTC QLQ-C30 Semptom Alt Boyut Skorları ve Fonksiyonel Alt Boyut Skorları arasında istatistiksel olarak anlamlı bir fark saptanmamıştır (p>0,05).Sonuç: Örneklemimizdeki hastalar içinde TAT yöntemine baŞvuran hasta sayısı literatüre göre daha azdır. TAT yöntemine başvuranların ise kullandıkları yöntemi doktor ve hemşireleriyle paylaşmadıkları saptanmıŞtır. TAT kullanımı çoğunlukla gizli bir şekilde yapılmaktadır. This study was carried out in descriptive type in order to examine the situations of the life quality of cancer patients, symptom control and investigation of occasions of use of complementary and alternative medicine . The sample were consist of 153 cancer patients who both accepted to attend the study and were treated at Suleyman Demirel University Research and Education Hospital, Oncology Research and the Ambulatory Chemotherapy Unit between the dates September 30, 2011 and February 29, 2012. As the data collection tools, personal information form,Complementary and Alternative Medicine Approaches Scale, Nightingale Symptom Assessment Scale and the EORTC QLQ-C30 (version 3.0) Quality of Life Scale were used in the research. The age limits of patients were determined as 24-83 and the age average is 55.15 ± 12.70. %57.5 of patients were female, while %65 of them were male. The rate of patients for whom CAM method was used was 14.3%. A significant difference among the CAM Scale Scores was not determined statistically according to genders of the patients (p>0.05). A significant relation among NSAS Scores was determined according to gender of patients, duration of disease, monthly income and the age of patients (p<0.05). A significant difference among EORTC QLQ-C30 Symptom Subscale Scores and Functional Subscale Scores according to marital status of patients and was not determined statistically (p> 0.05). Conclusion: number of patients who use of CAM methods in our sample is less than literature.The ones who apply to the method do not tell their doctors and nurses the method they use.
