Bu çalışmanın amacı; ortodontik tedavi sırasında meydana gelen beyaz nokta lezyonlarını önlemede kullanılan tekniklerin ortodontik tedavi sırasındaki etkinliklerinin birbirleriyle karşılaştırılmasıdır. Çalışmamızda beyaz nokta lezyonlarının oluşmasını önlemek amacıyla florürlü yapıştırıcı (Quick-CureTM), florürlü yüzey koruyucu (ProSealTM), kazeinli yüzey koruyucu (MI VarnishTM) etkinlikleri kontrol grubuna göre (TransbondTM XT) karşılaştırılmıştır. Çalışmamıza Sınıf 1 minimum çapraşıklık maloklüzyonuna sahip ve sabit ortodontik tedavi yapılması planlanan 18 kız, 16 erkek olmak üzere 34 ortodonti hastası dahil edilmiştir. Çalışma yöntemi olarak split-mouth yöntem uygulanmıştır. Braketleme seansından önce (T0), braketlemeden 6 ay sonra (T1), braketlemeden 9 ay sonra (T2) ve braketler söküldükten hemen sonra (T3) alınan lazer floresan aygıtı (DIAGNOdentTM Pen) ölçümleri, Sillness ve Löe'nin plak ve gingival indeks skorları çalışma materyalimizi oluşturmuştur. Elde edilen bulgular SPSS 21.0 programı kullanılarak değerlendirilmiştir. Araştırmamızın sonuçlarına göre ortodontik tedavi süresince plak ve gingival indeks skorlarının cinsiyet ve uygulama farklılığından etkilenmediği; zaman içerisinde artış gösterdiği ve arka bölge skorlarının ön bölge skorlarından daha yüksek olduğu bulunmuştur. DIAGNOdentTM sonuçlarına göre ise ortodontik tedavi süresince zamanla skorlarda cinsiyetten bağımsız olarak artış bulunduğu, bu artışın arka bölgede ön bölgeye göre daha fazla olduğu gözlenmiştir. Kullanılan materyaller karşılaştırıldığında ise florürlü vernik grubunda kontrol grubuna göre daha az demineralizasyon olduğu; florürlü yapıştırıcı ve kazeinli vernik grubunda ise skorların daha yüksek olduğu gözlenmiştir. The aim of this study is comparison the effectivity of techniques that are used for prevention of white spot lesions occured during orthodontic treatment. The effectiveness of orthodontic adhesive with flouride (Quick-CureTM), dental varnish with flouride (ProSealTM), dental varnish with casein (MI VarnishTM) were compared to control group (TransbondTM XT) to prevent the occurence of white spot lesions in our study. 20 patients (18 girls and 16 boys) that had class 1 minimum crowding malocclusion and need to fixed orthodontic treatment were included to our study. Split-mouth design was used as a study method. Our study materials were consisted of the measurements of laser fluorescent device (DIAGNOdentTM Pen), the plaque and gingival index scores of Sillness and Löe that were taken before the session of brackets bonding (T0), 6 months after brackets bonding (T1), 9 months after brackets bonding (T2) and just after removing the brackets (T3). The datas were evaluated by using SPSS 21.0 programme. According to our results; it was found that plaque and gingival index scores were not affected by difference of application and gender but showed increase over time and posterior region scores were higher than anterior region scores during orthodontic treatment. It was observed that during orthodontic treatment, scores were increased over time independent from gender and this increase was higher at posterior region than anterior, according to DIAGNOdentTM results. When we compared our study materials, it was obtained that less demineralization at ProSealTM group than control group and higher scores at MI VarnishTM and Quick-CureTM group.
