Bu çalışmanın amacı yüzme antrenörlerinin iletişim becerileri ile 8-14 yaş arası yüzücülerin motivasyon düzeylerinin incelenmesidir.Araştırmanın örneklemi Antalya ilinde spor yapan 105 kadın 115 erkek bireylerden oluşmuştur. Çalışmada yüzücülere demografik bilgiler, iletişim becerileri ve motivasyon anketleri uygulanmıştır. İlk bölüm araştırmaya katılanların demografik özelliklerini tanımak amaçlı düzenlenmiş sorulardan oluşmuştur. İkinci bölüm yüzücülerin motivasyon düzeylerinin ölçülmesine yönelik 40 maddeden oluşan "Spora Özgü Başarı Motivasyonu Ölçeği" kullanılmıştır. Üçüncü bölüm yüzücülerin algıları doğrultusunda yüzme antrenörlerinin iletişim becerilerini saptamak amacıyla "Antrenör İletişim Beceri Ölçeği" kullanılmıştır. Elde edilen veriler bilgisayar ortamında SPSS 18.00 adlı istatistik paket programı kullanılarak analiz edilmiştir. Araştırmanın hipotezlerini test etmek amacı ile t testi, Post-Hoc Testleri ve Anova Varyans Analizi kullanılmıştır. Araştırmanın sonucunda 8–14 yaş grubu yüzme sporcularında antrenörlerin iletişim becerilerinin yüzücü motivasyonu üzerinde anlamlı bir etkisinin bulunmadığı tespit edilmiştir (p>0,05).Yüzme sporunda antrenörlerin iletişim becerilerinin yüzücü motivasyonu üzerine çalışma sayısı arttırılıp elde edilen veriler ışığında doğru ve etkin iletişimi arttırmak için yüzme antrenörlerine bu alanda uzmanlaşmış özel veya resmi kurumlar tarafından eğitim verilebilir, gelişim seminerleri düzenlenebilir ve bu çalışmaların sonucunda antrenörler ile yüzücüler arasındaki iletişim ve motivasyon üzerindeki etkisi incelenebilir. The aim of this study is to investigate the communication skills of the trainers of the swimming athletes of ages between 8-14 and the motivation levels of the swimmers. The sampling of the study consists of 105 female and 115 male voluntary individuals who do sports in the province of Antalya. Demographic information, communication skills, and motivation questionnaires were given to the volunteers in the study. The first part of the questionnaire consisted of questions shaped to identify the demographic features of the participants of the study. In the second part, a 40-item "Sport-specific Achievement Motivation Scale" was used to measure the swimmers' motivation levels. In the third part, in accordance with the perception of the swimmers, the "Trainer Communication Skills Scale" was used to determine the swimming trainers'communication skills. The acquired data were analyzed on the computer with the package program named SPSS18.00. T-test, Post-Hoc Tests, and Anova Variance Analysis were used to test the hypotheses of the study. As a result of the study, it was determined that there is no meaningful effect of the trainers' communication skills on the motivation of the swimming athletes of ages between 8-14 (p>0,05).The number of the studies on the relationship between the communication skills of the swimming trainers and the motivation of the swimmers can be increased; the swimming trainers can be trained by private or government institutions which are experts in this field to enhance correct and effective communication in the light of the acquired data; development seminars can be organized and the effect of the communication on motivation between the trainers and the swimmers can be investigated in the wake of these exercises.
