Isparta ili sınırları içerisinde bulunan Davraz dağı Kulova Yaylası, Kayı Yaylası ve Kırtepe mevkiinde yer alan meralarda 2004 ve 2006 yılları arasında yürütülen bu çalışmada, otlatılan ve korunan mera kesimlerinin bazı bitki örtüsü ve toprak özellikleri arasındaki ilişkiler incelenmiştir. Araştırma ile bölgede yapılacak mera ıslah çalışmalarına temel oluşturacak verileri toplamak ve doğal mera vejetasyonu hakkında gerekli bilgileri sağlamak amaçlanmıştır. Bu nedenle bölgenin doğal meralarında yer alan bitki türleri, bunların çeşitli kalitatif ve kantitatif özellikleri ile ıslah çalışmalarına ışık tutabilecek yöresel ekolojik özellikler araştırılmıştır. Elde edilen sonuçlar aşağıdaki gibi özetlenmiştir. Toprakların fiziksel ve kimyasal özellikleri kesimlere göre çok belirgin fark göstermemekle birlikte, yükseltiye bağlı olarak önemli değişim tespit edilmiştir. Toprakların tekstür sınıfı balçık ve killi balçık olarak belirlenmiştir. Mera kesimlerinde toplam 242 bitki taksonu belirlenmiş ve bütün kesimlerde en fazla rastlanılan koyun yumağı (Festuca ovina L.) baskın tür olarak kaydedilmiştir. Çalışma sahası bitki örtüsünün botanik kompozisyonunda, toplam buğdaygil oranı otlatılan kesimde % 51.50, korunan kesimde % 58.89, baklagil oranı aynı sırayla % 9.24 ve % 11.36, diğer familyalara giren tür oranları ise % 39.26 ve % 29.75 olarak bulunmuştur. Bitki ile kaplı alan oranları otlatılan kesimlerde ortalama % 21.86 olurken, korunan kesimlerde % 29.02 olarak tespit edilmiştir. Ayrıca otlatılan kesimlerde ortalama 3.047 olan mera kalite derecesi, korunan kesimlerde 3.487 olarak belirlenmiştir. Topraküstü biomas miktarı otlatılan kesimlerde ortalama 87.4 kg/da olurken, korunan kesimlerde 158.2 kg/da, toprakaltı biomas ise sırasıyla 321.1 kg/da ve 456.6 kg/da olarak belirlenmiştir. Mera kesimlerine göre benzerlik indeksleri % 43.39 ile % 85.52 arasında değişmiştir. Otlatma kapasitesi 1 ha'lık alan için otlatılan kesimlerde ortalama 1.62 büyük baş hayvan birimi (BBHB) olurken, korunan kesimlerde 2.93 BBHB olarak belirlenmiştir. In this research which was carried out in 2004 and 2006 on the ranges located in Kırtepe, Kayı and Kulova Highlands of Davraz Mountain situated within the borders of the province of Isparta, the relationships among the certain species of vegetation and soil properties of the grazed and protected range sections were studied. Aim of the study was collect the data which will form a basis to the range improvement works in the region and to provide the required information about the range vegetation. For that reason, the plant species found in the rangelands of the region, their various qualitative and quantitative traits as well as the local ecological characteristics which will shed light on the improvement works were studied. The results obtained were summarized as follows. Due to the altitude, a significant change was found, while physical and chemical characteristics of the soils did not vary significantly between the sections. Soil texture class was determined to be loam and clay loam. A total of 242 plant species were identified in the range sections, and the sheep fescue (Festuca ovina L.), which was predominantly present in all the sections, was recorded as the dominant species. With respect to the botanic composition of the vegetation of the research area, total ratio of Poaceae family, Fabaceae family, and the plant species belonging to the other families were found as 51.50 % and 58.89 %, 9.24 % and 11.36 %, and 39.26 % and 29.75 % in the grazed and protected areas, respectively. The ratio of plant covered area was found as on average 21.86 % in the grazed area and 29.02 % in the protected area. Besides, the range quality degree, which was on average 3.047 in the grazed areas, was found as 3.487 in the protected ones. Above-ground biomass proved to be on average 87.4 kg/da in the grazed area and 158.2 kg/da in the protected area, while the below-ground biomass was determined to be 321.1 kg/da and 456.6 kg/da, respectively. Considering the range sections, similarity indexes ranged between 43.39 % and 85.52 %. The grazing capacity for an area of 1 ha was found as on average 1.62 animal units in the grazed areas and 2.93 animal units in the protected ones.
