Bu çalışma kapsamında öncelikle, 19. yüzyıl dünyasını tanıma ve tanımlayabilme adına bu dönemi etkileyen, bu dönemdeki gelişimlere zemin hazırlayan 19. yüzyıl öncesi kısa tarih süreci ve önemli sosyal, siyasal, ekonomik geçmişi ele alındı. Bu dönemde de ana konunun dinamik temel etkeni şeklinde çalışmada yer alacak olan, ticaret unsuru ve tarih boyunca uygarlıkların arasındaki rekabetin, ilişkilerin, birlikteliklerin bu unsurda nasıl odaklandığı veya farklı boyutlar kazandığı tartışıldı. 19. yüzyıla gelindiğinde, dönemin önemli tarihsel gelişimleri, olayları incelenerek bunların .Osmanlı Liman Kentleri. üzerindeki etkilerine yer verildi. Kent olgusu gibi, onunla birlikte liman yapısı ve yardımcı yapı türlerinin dönüşümünün de tarihi koruma ve yaşatma felsefesi içinde önemli bir mimari konsept oluşturduğuna dikkat çekildi. Çalışma alanı olarak belirlenen, Mersin ili, Aydıncık İlçesi.nde yer alan, antik dönemlere dayanan eski tarihiyle birlikte, 19. yüzyılda da liman kent işlevini Osmanlı Döneminde sürdürmüş olan .Kelenderis Liman Kenti. ne gelindiğinde ise, arkeoloji, mimarlık ve tarih kavramına yer verildi. Çalışma alanı durumundaki arkeolojik kazı ve araştırma alanı olan Kelenderis, bir antik kent olarak incelenirken, kent içinde bulunan 19. yüzyılda gümrük binası işlevi gören yapı, tarihi, nitelikleri ve tarihten günümüze üslendiği işlevler dh́ilinde değerlendirildi. Günümüzde yüklenmesi düşünülen fonksiyonlara yönelik olarak yeniden ele alınan bu yapı, karşılaması istenilen gereksinimlere uygun olarak incelenip rölöve ve restorasyon çalışmaları hazırlandı. Bu çalışmalarla ve edinilen kuramsal bilgilerle birlikte, insanoğlunun geçirdiği sosyo kültürel, toplumsal, teknolojik evrimler süresince yaşama alanlarının ve gereksinimlerinin de bu evrime maruz kaldığı saptanarak, tarihi çevre koruma ve yaşatma bilincine dair çeşitli sonuçlara varıldı. In this extension of study, priorly, the process of the short period before 19th century and its important social, political, economical background that influences the period, is mentioned in order to recognize and to be able to distinguish 19th century world. Also in this period it is discussed about the trade component that will take place as the dynamic basic factor of the main subject and how the competition, relations, togetherness between these civilizations are focused on it throught the history or how it gained different dimensions. When it came to 19th century, the important developments and incidents of the period are examined and their effect on .Otoman Harbour Cities. are also mentioned in this study. Like and together with the city fact, the attention is attracted on the structure of the harbour and the transformation of suplementary construction types, which forms an important and keeping the history alive. When it came on .Kelenderis Harbour City.; which is determined as the working field in Aydıncık in Mersin, with its old history depended on the ancient periods and carried on its harbour city function during Ottoman Era in 19th century. While Kelenderis, that is now a working field of archeological excavation and research area is examined as an ancient city, on the other hand, the structure which was a customs buildig in 19th century, is appraised with its qualities and duties it had from past up to now. Nowadays, dealing with the functions that are supposed to load on this structure and restoration studies are prepared according to the wanted to be covered. With these studies and the oretical knowledges, it is found that the humankind had cultural, social, technological evolotions during his life and because of this living areas and need are also changed. Consequently, it is reached to some results about the historical environment protection and recreation conscious.
