Management of medical waste is highly important because of the potential hazard to environment and human health. As all the parts of society the hospitals are using disposable products which increase the solid waste amount day by day. Due to these reasons all countries create own regulations about medical waste management (collecting transportation and disposal). In our country, first regulation about medical waste management is published on 22.07.2005 25883 numberd offical journal named as .Tıbbi Atıkların Kontrolü Yönetmeliği (Medical Waste Management Regulations). (TAKY). In this postgraduate thesis, collecting, transporting and disposal of medical waste at source is presented in a scientific way with all litterateur research. Within the scope of thesis 11 healthcare institutions in Isparta city center is researched to determine their medical waste collecting-storage-disposal approach. In 11 healthcare institution type and amount of medical waste is determined. A survey is made about Medical Waste Management Regulations. implementation at mentioned healthcare institution. All of the survey questions are prepared as in the given conditions of Medical Waste Management Regulations and all the answers are answered by the staff which are assigned according to their Medical Waste Management plan. Survey results estimated in SPPS 17 and Microsoft Excel software. Within the scope of researched healthcare institutions 100% is the answer rate of the survey questions. 91% of the healthcare institutions have a medical waste management, collection, temporary storage as a medical waste management plan. 91% of the institutions made an assignment about medical waste collecting and temporary storage. Isparta healthcare institutions are aware of Medical Waste Management Regulations and meet the requirements. In the final stage the medical waste which is produced by healthcare organizations are given to Isparta Municipal.s medical waste transportation vehicle. Medical waste transportation vehicle collects all the waste and dumps them to solid waste landfill facility. These medical wastes after sanitized and dumped to a storage area which matches Medical Waste Management Regulations Keywords: Medical Waste, Isparta, Spss, Healthcare Institutions, Medical Waste Control Regulations.
