Yüksek lisans tez çalışmasının ilk kısmında, üretim proseslerinde boyarmadde kullanan endüstrilerden kaynaklanan atıksularda renk parametresi ölçümü için farklı metotlar araştırılmış ve bu metotlar arasındaki ilişkiler belirlenmiştir. Bu kapsamda Denizli ilinden seçilen 6 tane tekstil endüstrisi ve 1 tane kağıt endüstrisi atıksu arıtma tesisi giriş ve çıkışından 28 hafta süresince numuneler alınmıştır. Giriş ve çıkış atıksu numunelerindeki renk, Platin-Kobalt (Pt-Co), Amerikan Boya İmalatçıları Enstitüsü (American Dye Manufactures Institute: ADMI), dalgaboyu taraması (Alan) ve renklilik sayısı (RES) ölçüm metotları kullanılarak belirlenmiştir. Elde edilen verilerle ilk olarak tesislerin arıtma performansları değerlendirilmiş ve arıtma tesislerinin mevcut durumu belirlenmiştir. Buna göre seçilen tesislerin %28’nin ulusal renk deşarj limit değeri olan 280 Pt-Co renk birimini sağladığı görülmüştür.İkinci kısımda elde edilen renk ölçüm verileriyle renk birimleri arasında korelasyon analizleri yapılmıştır. Tesis bazında yapılan korelasyonlarda sonuçlar arasında farklılıklar gözlenirken tüm verilerle yapılan korelasyonlarda dalgaboyu birbirine yakın olan ölçüm metotları arasındaki korelasyonların daha kuvvetli olduğu görülmüştür. Pt-Co renk biriminin ise diğer renk birimleri ile korelasyonlarında belirli bir değerden sonra olumlu sonuçlar vermediği anlaşılmıştır. Geniş bir spektral tarama gerçekleştiren Alan metodunun ise neredeyse diğer tüm renk birimleri ile kuvvetli korelasyonlar verdiği görülmüştür. Benzer şekilde ADMI renk birimi de diğer renk birimleri ile kuvvetli korelasyonlar göstermiştir. RES renk birimleri arasında yapılan korelasyonlarda dalgaboyları yakın olan ölçümlerin birbiri ile daha kuvvetli korelasyon gösterdiği tespit edilmiştir.Üçüncü kısımda renk ölçüm metotları arasında bir eşlenik tablosu oluşturulmuştur. Ulusal renk deşarj kriteri olan Pt-Co renk birimi değerlerine karşılık gelen ADMI, Alan ve RES değerleri çoklu lineer regrasyon analizi ile %95 güven aralığında tespit edilmiştir. Dördüncü kısımda ise renk ve kimyasal oksijen ihtiyacı (KOİ) arasındaki ilişki irdelenmiştir. Tesis bazında yapılan korelasyon analizleri oldukça olumsuz sonuçlar verirken, tüm veri seti ile yapılan analizlerde renk ve KOİ arasında doğrusal bir ilişki olmadığı görülmüştür. Düşük renk içeren suların KOİ değerlerinin yüksek, yüksek renk içeren bazı suların ise KOİ değerlerinin oldukça düşük olduğu gözlemlenmiştir.Sonuç olarak renk ölçüm metotları şu şekilde değerlendirilmiştir: Pt-Co renk ölçüm metodunda tek dalgaboyunda ölçüm yapılması ve bu metodun yüzeysel sular için uygun bir metot olmasından dolayı, yoğun renk içeren endüstriyel atıksular için uygun olmadığı tespit edilmiştir. ADMI yöntemi geniş bir spektral bantta tarama yapıp daha olumlu sonuçlar verebilir fakat renk değerini hesaplama güçlüğü bu metodun dezavantajıdır. Alan metodu ise en hassas ölçüm metodudur ve her tür su için uygulanabilir. Fakat bu metotta da hesaplama güçlüğü ortaya çıkmaktadır. RES metodu hem ana renkleri (sarı, kırmızı, mavi) temsil eden 3 farklı dalgaboyunda ölçüm yapması hem de neredeyse bütün spektrofotometrelerde ölçümünün kolay olması nedeniyle tercih edilebilir en uygun yöntemdir. Ayrıca yoğun renk içeren endüstriyel atıksular için de oldukça uygun bir metottur. Bu nedenle renk ölçüm metotları arasında en uygun ve dezavantajı olmayan bir metot olarak öne çıkmaktadır. In the first part of this thesis, different measurement methods of color parameters were investigated in the wastewaters of dye consuming industries and the relationships between these methods were determined. In this context, influent and effluent wastewater samples were taken from wastewater treatment plants of 1 paper industry and 6 textile industries in Denizli province, during 28-week period. The color parameter of influent and effluent of wastewater samples were determined with platinum-cobalt (Pt-Co), American Dye Manufacturers Institute (ADMI), the spectral scanning (Area) and spectral absorption coefficient (SAC) methods. Firstly, the performance of wastewater treatment plants was evaluated with obtained data and the current state of treatment plants was determined. It was found that only 28% of the selected plants were achieved the current 280 Pt-Co national discharge limit.In the second part, the correlation analyzes were conducted between the obtained color measurement data and color units. While some differences were observed between the facilities, stronger correlations were obtained with all measurements in closer wavelength measurements. The correlations between Pt-Co and other color units did not show good results after a certain value. The Area method which performed a wide spectral scan showed strong correlations with almost all color units. Similarly, ADMI color unit also showed strong correlations with other color units. The correlations between the closest wavelength measurements showed better results with SAC color units.In the third part, a “table of equivalents” was developed for the color measurement methods. The ADMI, Area and SAC values that correspond to the Pt-Co color unit (national color discharge unit parameter) were determined with 95% confidence intervals by multiple linear regression analysis. In the fourth part, the relationships between the color and chemical oxygen demand (COD) were examined. While the correlation analyze results were negative on facility basis, the whole data set also did not show a linear relationship between COD and color. The high COD values were obtained with the waters that contain low color, whereas quite high color values was observed with low COD values for some samples. Consequently, the color measurement methods were evaluated as follows: The Pt-Co color measurement method is not a suitable method for industrial wastewater which contains intense color. The Pt-Co color measurement method is suitable for surface waters. The ADMI method can give more accurate results due to the ability of scanning a wide spectral band. But the main disadvantage of this method is the difficulty of calculating step. The Area method is the most sensitive method and can be applied for each type of water. However, there is also a complicated calculation step for this method. The SAC method is used in three different wavelength representing the main colors (yellow, red, blue). It can be concluded that SAC is the most suitable method due to its easily applicable test matrix for all spectrophotometers. It is also suitable for industrial wastewaters which contain intense color. Therefore, SAC method is seemed as the most appropriate color measurement method.
