Ağaçlara ilişkin hacim tahminleri, hem odun kaynağının sürdürülebilir yönetimi, hem de bilimsel araştırma çalışmalarında ve pratik ormancılık amaçları için çok gerekli ve yararlıdır. Ağaç hacim ve biyokütle tahminleri için en güvenilir yollardan birisi gövde çapı ve gövde hacim modelleridir. Sürekli değişen pazar şartları, standartları karşılayacak doğru ve güvenilir çap ve hacim modellerinin geliştirilmesini gerekli kılmaktadır. Maalesef, halen kullanılmakta olan hacim tabloları bu ihtiyacı karşılamak için yetersizdir. Diğer yandan ülkemizde karışık meşcerelerle ilgi çalışmalar oldukça azdır. Bu çalışma ile Devrek Yöresi sarıçam-karaçam karışık meşcereleri için gövde çapı ve gövde hacim modelleri geliştirilmiştir. Bu amaçla iki farklı parçalı gövde çapı modeli kullanılmıştır. Hiyerarşik bir kümelenme gösteren verilerde, veri yapısında var olan otokorelasyonun ortadan kaldırılması için ikinci derece otoregresive hata yapısı kullanılmıştır. Çalışmada test edilen gövde çapı modelleri çap ve ticari hacim tahminleri için başarılı sonuçlar vermiştir. Modeller arasında gövde çapı, ticari boy ve ticari hacim tahminlerinde en başarılı model Fang vd. (2000) tarafından geliştirilen model olmuştur. Karışımı oluşturan sarıçam ve karaçam türleri için, çap ve ticari hacim tahminleri için farklı gövde çapı ve gövde hacim modeline ihtiyaç olup olmadığı F-testi ile ortaya konmuştur. Yapılan değerlendirmelerde sarçam ve karaçam türleri için farklı çap ve ticari hacim denklemlerinin kullanılması gerektiği ortaya çıkmıştır. Geliştirilen gövde çapı ve gövde hacim modelleri kullanılarak Devrek Yöresi karışık sarıçam ve karaçam meşcereleri için daha doğru çap ve hacim tahminleri yapılabilir. Sonuç olarak, Dverek Yöresi sarıçam-karaçam karışık meşcereleri için herhangi bir boy değerine karşılık gelen çap, herhangi bir çap değerine karşılık gelen boy ve ticari hacim tahminleri için Fang vd. (2000) tarafından geliştirilen model önerilebilir.
Determination of stem standing volume is very useful for both research and practical purposes in forestry, and contributes to the sustainable management of timber resources. Taper equations are the best way to estimate volume for saw timber and biomass purposes. With ever changing market conditions, there is a need to accurately estimate tree volumes utilizing multiple upper stem merchantability limits. This is not currently possible with the existing total stem volume tables for these three species. Unfortunately, we have very little information volume estimation of mixed stands in Turkey. Stem taper and stem volume equations developed for Scots piner and black pine mixed stands in Devrek District. For this aim, we were used two different segmented taper models. A second-order continuous-time autoregressive error structure was used to correct the inherent autocorrelation in the hierarchical data. The proposed models generally performed better for stem diameter and stem volume estimations for mixed stands. Results show that the Fang vd. (2000) taper equation was superior to the other equation in predicting stem diameter, merchantable height, and commercial volume. The one of the important results of this study, the importance of checking fit statistics of taper equations for both diameters and volume estimations. To test the differences of taper equations among scots pine and black pine in mixed, F-test was used. The non-linear extra sum of squares method indicated differences in mixed species-specific taper equations. Therefore, for each species a separate set of parameters for taper equation that identifies the unique bole shape is needed. As a results, Fang vd. (2000) taper model recommended for estimating diameter at a specific height, height to a specific diameter along the stem, and merchantable volume for mixed Scots pine and black pine in Dverek District of Turkey.
