Günümüzde büyüyen, gelişen dünya, teknoloji, üretim ve artan nüfus ile birlikte ortaya çıkan sorunlardan en önemlisi enerji ihtiyacının karşılanması olmuştur. Fosil yakıtlar yıllar içinde bilinçsizce tüketilmeye devam edilmekte ve geri dönüştürülebilir olmaması nedeni ile azalmaktadır, nükleer enerji ile çalışan santrallerde yaşanan kazalarla birlikte de alternatif enerji kaynaklarına eğilim son yıllarda artmıştır. Dünya'nın çoğu ülkesinde olduğu gibi ülkemizde de fosil yakıtlar kullanılmaktadır, bu durum çevresel ve ekonomik alanlarda olumsuzluklar göstermektedir. Güneş enerjisi bakımından ülkemiz ise oldukça verimli olabilecek bir konumdadır. Bu çalışmada güneş güç kulesi santrallerinde kullanılan heliostatların kontrolü ele alınmıştır. Bu sistemde endüstriyel bilgisayar kullanılmasının amacı, üzerindeki gömülü işletim sistemi ile esnek bir yapı sağlaması, gelişmiş bir yazılım ve veritabanı çalıştırabilmesidir. Prototip bir heliostat üretilerek endüstriyel bilgisayar üzerinden bağlanılan bir veritabanı ve elektronik kontrol devreleri ile gün boyunca alacağı açı değerlerine göre çalışması sağlanmış ve incelenmiştir. Power problem is one of the most important problems in this developing world. Fossil fuels are being consumed carelessly and they are nonrenewable resources. Fossil fuels' reserves are being depleted faster than new one being made. In terms of nuclear power; any possible plant accident is so dangerous for people and environment, so alternative energy sources are being searched recently. As of other countries around the world, Turkey has been consuming fossil fuels that creates some environmental and economical problems for Turkey. Our country is located in an advantageous position for solar energy . In this thesis, we studied the control of heliostats which are used in solar power towers. Industrial computers are used in heliostats mainly, because the embedded operating systems built into them are flexible and can operate an improved software and database in these systems. By building a prototype heliostat, we are able to connect a database and an electronic control circuits to an industrial computer. Given two angle values which specifies the target's direction we were able to track the movements of the sun, have the heliostat work properly and analyze the results.
