Kentlerdeki tarihi ve kültürel peyzaj değerlerinin varlığı, o kentin yaşam alanlarının ve mekânlarının niteliğini artıran en önemli unsurlardandır. Günümüzde kentlere kaybolan kimliğinin yeniden kazandırılması ve tarihsel dokunun korunması kentlerin sürdürülebilirliğini ve yaşanabilirliği için önemli hale gelmiştir. Tarihi kentsel mekânlar, yaşayanların geçmişine ve kültürüne ilişkin ipuçları içermesi ve bir kentin bireylerin belleğinde kalıcı olmasını sağlayan özelliklere sahip olması dolayısıyla önemlidir. Bu tür mekânlar sayısının çokluğu, korunmuşluğu ve günümüzde hala yaşayan mekânlar oluşu ile de toplumun gelişmişliğinin bir göstergesi olup ayrıca bir kent hafızası oluşturulmasında da önemli bir faktördür. Dolayısıyla kentlerde değişen kültürel süreci yansıtan bu tür peyzaj alanlarının korunarak gelecek nesillere aktarılması peyzaj mimarlığı disiplininin tarihe karşı bir sorumluluğu olmaya devam etmektedir. Bu çalışma kentlerdeki tarihi ve kültürel alanları ve değişimlerini Isparta kenti örneğinde ortaya koymayı amaçlamaktadır. Bu kapsamda çalışma Isparta kentindeki tarihi öneme sahip yapıların çevrelerindeki değişimlerin kent peyzajına etkilerini, bu alanların kent peyzajındaki rolünü ve kente kazandırdığı kimliği ortaya koymaktadır. Bu amaçla belirlenen alanların tarihsel süreç içerisinde nasıl bir değişim gösterdiği alanlara ait tarihi kaynaklar, eski fotoğraflar, çeşitli plan ve projeler yardımıyla ortaya konulmuştur. Ayrıca bu alanların işlev, düzen, kimlik, cazibe ve kalite prensipleri kapsamında mekânsal kalite analizi yapılmış ve hâlihazırdaki durumları, aynı veya yakın perspektiflerden çekilen fotoğraflar yardımıyla karşılaştırılmıştır. Çalışma sonunda elde edilen bulgular doğrultusunda Isparta kentindeki tarihi öneme sahip yapılar ve çevreleri, kentin imajı ve peyzaj kalitesi kapsamında değerlendirilerek öneriler geliştirilmiş ve ilgili kurumların alması gereken önlemlere dikkat çekilmiştir. The existence of historical and cultural values increases the quality of the living environment in urban areas. Today conservation of historical patterns in urban areas and retrieving the lost identity of cities become an important issue in terms of quality of life and sustainability. Historical and cultural areas of the city are also important as they include cues to the historical and cultural life styles of the previous generations and as they help to form a memory of the city in people's minds. Moreover, such areas are regarded as an indicator of the civilization according to their number and protection and providing that they maintain their character of being a living space. As protection of historical and cultural areas and transfer of these values to the next generation are very important to the formation of a city memory, protection of such landscapes, reflecting changing cultural processes, will continue to be a responsibility of the landscape architecture profession. This study aim to determine historical and cultural areas of cities in the City of Isparta case, effects of changes around historical buildings on urban landscape and, the role of these areas for urban landscape and city image. In this context, historical and cultural areas of Isparta city have first been identified. With the help of historical documents, the old pictures and plans of Isparta city, an attempt has been made to determine between the previous and the present situation of these areas. The spatial qualities of these areas have been evluated through principles such function, order, identity, appeal and quality. A comparison between the previous and the current situations of these areas have also been made through the old and the new pictures of Isparta city. With the help of findings, changes in the historical and cultural areas of the city have been evaluated in terms of image and landscape quality of the city and suggestions have been developed to protect these areas and to stress the role of landscape architecture discipline and the other related bodies.
