Tekstil endüstrisi, yoğun renk ve KOİ kirlilik yüküne sahip atıksuları içeren bir sektördür. Bu nedenle bir çok tekstil endüstrisi atıksu arıtma tesisi renk ve KOİ deşarj standartlarını sağlamada sorunlarla karşılaşmaktadır. Tekstil endüstrisi arıtma tesislerinin çoğunluğu aerobik biyolojik arıtma yöntemini kullanmaktadır. Ancak bu yöntem genellikle azo ve çeşitli boyar madde (reaktif, dispers vs) içeren atıksulardan renk gideriminde etkili değildir. Dolayısıyla bir çok arıtma tesisi renk ve KOİ giderimi konusunda yeni ve etkili yöntemler araştırmaktadır Bu bağlamda, bu tez çalışması kapsamında tekstil atıksularından renk ve kimyasal oksijen ihtiyacı (KOİ) giderimi amacıyla dekoloran ve ozon uygulamaları araştırılıp etkinlikleri belirlenmiştir. Bu çalışmada iki farklı tekstil atıksuyu kullanılmıştır (Tesis A ve Tesis B). Fizikokimyasal arıtımda 5 farklı dekoloran (dekoloran 1, dekoloran 2, dekoloran 3, dekoloran 4 ve dekoloran 5), flokülan ve PAK test edilmiştir. Ozonlama çalışmasında ise atıksulara 26,7-1600 mg/L arasında değişen ozon dozu uygulanmıştır. Tesis A atıksuyu için, en düşük renk değeri (15 Pt-Co) 300+200 mg/L dekoloran 5+dekoloran 3 kombinasyon dozunda elde edilmiştir. En düşük KOİ değeri 300 mg/L PAK dozunda elde edilmiştir. Tesis A atıksuyunda (koton üretimi ve boyaması yapan tesis) yapılan testte dekoloran 1, dekoloran 2, dekoloran 5 ve PAK'ın 50 mg/L dozunda elde edilen tüm renk ve KOİ değerleri deşarj sınır değerlerinin (renk deşarj sınır değeri:280 Pt-Co ve KOİ sınır değeri:250 mg/L) altında kalmayı başarmıştır. Dekoloran 3 ve dekoloran 4 kimyasalları da renk ve KOİ sınır değerlerinin altına sırasıyla 100 ve 200 mg/L dekoloran dozunda düşürmeyi başarmıştır. Tesis B atıksuyunda (sentetik üretim yapan tesis) yapılan testte tüm dekoloran ve PAK'ın 25 mg/L'lik dozunda elde edilen renk ve KOİ değerleri deşarj sınır değerlerinin (renk:280 Pt-Co, KOİ:400 mg/L) altında kalmayı başarmıştır. En düşük renk değeri (6 Pt-Co) 100+300 mg/L dozundaki PAK+dekoloran 3 kombinasyonunda ve en düşük KOİ değeri (22,1 mg/L) PAK'ın 300 mg/L dozunda elde edilmiştir. Ozonlama deneyleri sabit atıksu sıcaklığında (20 oC) ve atıksuların orijinal pH değerinde gerçekleştirilmiştir. Tesis A atıksuyunda yapılan testte en yüksek renk ve KOİ giderimi verimi (%88,9 Pt-Co and %35,3) 667 mg/L uygulanan ozon dozunda elde edilmiştir. Tesis B atıksuyun da ise en yüksek renk giderimi (%98,4 Pt-Co) 553 ve 800 mg/L uygulanan ozon dozunda ve en yüksek KOİ giderimi (%47,5) 1600 mg/L uygulanan ozon dozunda elde edilmiştir. Tüm sonuçlar göstermektedir ki fizikokimyasal arıtım için kullanılan tüm kimyasal maddeler (dekoloranlar ve PAK) her iki atıksu için de renk ve KOİ giderimi açısından oldukça başarılıdır. Ozonlama yöntemi ise atıksuyun rengini gidermede daha başarılı olduğu görülmüştür.
Textile industry effluents have high color and COD strength characteristics. For this reason, many textile wastewater treatment plants are currently experiencing problems in meeting the effluent discharge standard for the color and COD parameter. Majority of textile wastewater treatment plants employ conventional aerobic biological treatment processes. However, aerobic biological treatment is generally ineffective for color reduction mainly due to the presence of azo dyes and various types of dyes (reactive, disperse, etc.) used during production processes. Therefore, many treatment plants are investigating the new and efficient treatment applications. In this context, the main objective of this thesis was to test and evaluate the effectiveness with dekolorants and ozone application in removing color and chemical oxygen demand (COD) from textile wastewaters. In this study, use of two different textile effluents (Plant A and Plant B). Five types of decolorants (decolorant 1, decolorant 2, decolorant 3, decolorant 4 and decolorant 5), flocculant and PAK were tested in physicochemical treatment. As for that ozonation processes, applied to between 26,7-1600 mg/L ozone dosage. For Plant A wastewater, the lowest color value (15 Pt-Co) was obtained with 300+200 mg/L dosage of decolorant 5+decolorant 3 combination. The lowest COD value (125 mg/L) was obtained with 300 mg/L dosage of PAC. For Plant A (from cotton production and dyeing), the tested three decolorants (decolorant 1, decolorant 2 and decolorant 5) and PAC with dosages of around 50 mg/L successfully reduced the color and COD values below the discharge standart limits (Color:280 Pt-Co, COD: 250 mg/L). Decolorant 3 and decolorant 4 also provided color and COD values below the limits at 100 and 200 mg/L dosages, respectively. For Plant B wastewater (from synthetic fabrics), all the tested 5 decolorants and PAC with a dosage of 25 mg/L was sufficient to reduce the color and COD below the discharge limits (Color:280 Pt-Co, COD:400 mg/L). The lowest color value (6 Pt-Co) was obtained with 100+300 mg/L dosage of PAK+decolorant 3 combination and the lowest COD value (22,1 mg/L) was obtained with 300 mg/L dosage of PAC. It was found that the use of flocculant along with decolorants did not generally enhance color and COD removals. As a general trend, correlations were found between color and COD removals. In ozonation experiments for Plant A and Plant B were tested stable wastewater degree (20 oC) and original pH value. For Plant A, the highest color (Pt-Co ve RES) and COD removal (%88,9 Pt-Co and %35,3) was obtained with 667 mg/L applied ozone dosage. For Plant B, the highest color removal (%98,4 Pt-Co) was obtained with 553 and 800 mg/L applied ozone dosage and the highest COD removal (%47,5) was obtained with 1600 mg/L applied ozone dosage. The results overall indicated that the use of decolorants or PAC for various types of textile wastewaters seems to be effective in significantly reducing color and COD values for physicochemical treatment.
