Modernleşme hareketleri ile Endüstri Devrimi'nden sonra Avrupa'da ortaya çıkan ve II. Abdülhamid döneminde Osmanlı İmparatorluğu'na da ithal edilen Art Nouveau mimarlık üslubu ve bu üslubun eseri Şeyh Muhammed Zafir Külliyesi tezin ana konusunu oluşturmaktadır. 19. yüzyıl sonlarında İngiltere'de doğan ve kısa sürede Avrupa kıtasına yayılan Art Nouveau ile Osmanlı topraklarında özenli birçok eser icra edilmiştir. Bu eserlerin çoğu II. Abdülhamid tarafından sergi pavyonu tasarımı için davet edilen İtalyan mimar Raimondo D'Aronco tarafından tasarlanmıştır. İstanbul'da Art Nouveau'nun mimarı niteliğinde olan D'Aronco ve bu üsluptaki eserlerinden birinin seçilmesine, bu üslubu Osmanlı'da anlatabilmenin en doğru yol olduğu düşüncesi sebep olmuştur. D'Aronco'nun bahsedildiği gibi bu üsluba ait geniş bir listesi olmasına rağmen tezin ana konusu için Şeyh Zafir Külliyesi seçilmiştir. Bu fonksiyon ve bu üslubun birleştiği tek ve Klasik Osmanlı üslubu ile entegre konusunda başarılı bir eser olması bu tez için seçilmesine sebep olmuştur. Bu yapıyı anlamak için modernleşme hareketlerinden başlayarak, Osmanlı'da yaşanan sosyal ve mimari değişimlerin Art Nouveau'ya kadar uzanan süreci incelenmiştir. Endüstri Devrimi ve sanat üzerindeki etkisi, bu etkiler sonucunda ortaya çıkan üsluplardan biri olan Art Nouveau üslubunun karakteristik özellikleri ve Art Nouveau'nun Osmanlı'daki hali mercek altına alınmıştır. Bu üslubun D'Aronco ile ülkeye gelmesinden dolayı, D'Aronco'nun İstanbul öncesi çalışmalarından söz edilmiş ve sonrasında İstanbul çalışmaları incelenmiştir. Böylece Osmalı'da Art Nouveau'nun nasıl şekillendiğini ortaya koymak amaçlanmıştır Aynı arazi içerisinde bulunan Ertuğrul Tekke'nin Şeyh Zafir Külliyesi ile olan ilişkisine yer verilmiştir. Çeşme, kitaplık ve türbeden oluşan bu külliyenin detaylı resimleri rölöve çalışmaları ile desteklenerek mimari ve yapısal özelliklerinin anlatılmıştır. Tüm bu çalışmalar ve izlenen yol ile D'Aronco'nun Şeyh Zafir Külliyesi üzerinden kendisine has Art Nouveau'sunun çizgilerinin ortaya çıkarılması hedeflenmiştir. Sadece kendisine özgü olan değil bu yapı üzerinde uyguladığı Art Nouveau'nun farklılığının fark edilmesi amaçlanmıştır. Yapının mimari özelliklerini mercek altına alarak Art Nouveau'nun Osmanlı'ya nasıl yansıdığını, ne gibi değişimler ve eklentiler ile burada doğduğunu, D'Aronco'nun Avrupalı bir üslubu, dini bir yapıya nasıl uyarladığını anlatma çabası güdülmüştür. Yapının yeni bir yapı türü olmaması, yapının, kendisinden önce veya aynı dönemde yapılmış türbeler ile bazı benzerlikleri taşımasına sebep olmuştur. Art Nouveau'nun Osmanlı'ya giren yeni bir üslup olması ve bu üsluba ait tek türbe olması da yapıya özgünlük kazandırmıştır. Avrupalı bir üslubun Anadolu'ya özgü bir yapı türü üzerindeki izlerinin açığa vurulması amaçlanmıştır. Bütün bu amaçlar ile yapının ortaya koyduğu geleneksellik ve Avrupalılık üzerinden yapının özgünlüğü olduğu düşünülmüştür. Bu özgünlük bileşenlerinin, fotoğraflar ve rölöveler ile desteklenerek iletilmesi amaçlanmıştır. Tez içerisinde yer alan konuların bazılarını veya bir kaçını bir arada barındıran kaynaklara ulaşmak mümkündür. Bu kaynaklar, Art Nouveau'nun çizgilerinden bahseden, Şeyh Zafir Külliyesi mimari özelliklerine değinen ve Raimondo D'Aronco'nun çalışmalarına yer veren kaynaklardan oluşmaktadır. Fakat yukarıdaki amaçlara yönelik bir çalışmanın literatürde yer almaması, bu eksikliğin giderilmesi düşüncesini doğurmuş ve sonucunda yukarıda bahsi geçen amaçları barındıran bir tez yazma gereği duyulmuştur. After the industrial revolution with the modernization movements emerged in Europe and imported during the period of the II. Abdulhamid in Ottoman Empire, Art Nouveau architectural style, and work of that style mausoleum of Sheikh Mohammed Zafir is the main topic of the thesis. Born in England in the late 19th century and quickly spread to the European continent with many works of Art Nouveau has been performed carefully in Ottoman lands. Most of these works are designed by the Italian architect Raimondo D'Aronco, invited by II. Abdülhamid to design the Pavilion of the exhibition. D'Aronco that the Art Nouveau architect in Istanbul and selecting one of the works in this style, this style is the most accurate way to explain in the Ottoman style with this selection has been made. The mausoleum of Sheikh Zafir is selected as the main topic of the thesis although D'Aronco has a comprehensive list of this style. To understand this structure, starting with modernization movements, variations in the Ottoman Empire and the process extending from this change in architecture starting from the origin to the Art Nouveau have been studied. The industrial revolution and the effect on art, the characteristics of Art Nouveau style occurs as a result of these effects and Art Nouveau in the Ottoman Empire, has been under the spotlight. This style is promoted to Turkey by D'Aronco at the first time, so D'Aronco's works before İstanbul are mentioned and then his works in İstanbul is processed. Ertuğrul Tekke, located in same land with Sheikh Zafir Külliye, and its relationship with Şeyh Zafir Külliyesi is referred as well. The method viewed in this thesis, detailed pictures of this külliye which consisting a fountain, a library and a mausoleum, are supported with building survey and architectural and structural properties are reviewed. With all of these studies, it is aimed to reveal the distinctive Art Nouveau lines of D'Aronco which affected by Sheikh Zafir mausoleum. It is intended to be noticed on the diversity of Art Nouveau applied on this structure Scrutinized by architectural features of the structure, it seems how reflects Art Nouveau to the Ottomans, where was born with what kind of changes and extensions, how D'Aronco's European style being adapted to religious structure. type of structure caused the structure has some similarities with the Not being a new mausoleums which built before or at the same period of time. This mausoleum is an original structure because Art Nouveau is a new style for Ottomans and thsi structure is the only sample of this style. All these objectives are put forward through the traditional and European uniqueness; it is aimed to transmit by supporting building survey and the pictures of detailed components of this uniqueness. These sources is consist from subjects that are mentioned lines of Art Nouveau, architecture style of tomb of Sheikh Zafar and works of Raimondo D'Aronco. But not to take part in a study literature for the above purpose. An idea was born to overcome this shortcoming. So arose the need to write a dissertation above purposes.
