Bu çalışma kapsamında mermercilik sektöründe üst seviyede tercih edilir renk ve dokusal özellikler sunan Senirkent-Yalvaç (Isparta) havzasındaki kireçtaşı rezervlerinin yapısal, dokusal ve mineralojik karakterizasyonu yapılmış mermer ocak işletmelerinde fizibilite çalışmalarının önemi örneklerle vurgulanmış ve mermer ocak işletmelerinin çevresel etkileri ortaya konmuştur. Aynı zamanda Senirken-Yalvaç havzasının mermer sahalarının ekonomik potansiyeli de değerlendirilmiştir. Senirken-Yalvaç bölgesinde bulunan Ergenli formasyonu, Gökhacıdağ formasyonu ve Bakırdağ formasyonuna ait kireçtaşları cazip renk ve dokusal özellikleri ile mermer endüstrisinde ilk sırada talep görebilecek mermerlerdir. Karbonat kayaç rezervleri ülkemiz genelinde oldukça fazla olmasına karşın, mermer sektörünün talep ettiği özellikleri sunan rezervleri sınırlıdır. Bu rezervlerin önemli bir bölümü Toros Dağ kuşağı üzerinde yer almaktadır. Toros Dağ kuşağında yer alan Senirkent-Yalvaç (Isparta) çevresindeki otokton ve allokton konumlu kireçtaşlarına ait kayaçlar bu rezervlerin bir bölümüne karşılık gelir. Çalışma alanında Bakırdağ ve Gökhacıdağ formasyonları kireçtaşlarından elde edilen bej renkli mermerler yapısal problemler nedeniyle ekonomik olarak üretilemediğinden bu kayaçlar üzerinde aktif işletme yapılmamaktadır. Buna karşın Ergenli formasyonu kireçtaşlarının uygun yapısal, dokusal ve mineralojik özellikler sunan bölümlerinde ekonomik mermeri üretimi gerçekleştirilmektedir. Ergenli formasyounu kireçtaşları üzerinde 1 adet işletme ruhsatlı sahada mermer blok üretim faaliyetleri devam etmektedir. Bu kireçtaşlarında rezerv açısından problem yok ise de yapısal özellikler ve homojenite açısından yaşanan problemler çok büyük ölçeklerdedir.Bu nedenle çalışma alanında onlarca işletme faaliyetlerini sonlandırmıştır. Bu durum fizibilite çalışmalarının önemini bir kez daha ortaya koymuştur. Çalışma alanındaki mermer potansiyelleri çevresel açıdan en az etkilerin yaşanacağı bir konumda yer almaktadırlar. This study has focused on the structural, textural and mineralogical characterizations of limestone deposits of Senirkent-Yalvaç (Isparta), that have very preferrable colors and textures in marble industry. It also emphasises the importance of feasibility studies in marble quarries as well as demonstrates the environmental impacts of the marble quarries. From the financial aspect, the economical potential of Senirken-Yalvaç marble area has also been evaluated. The Ergenli formation, Gökhacıdağ formation and Bakırdağ formation limestones that reside in the Senirken-Yalvaç area, have a special color and texture that is very desirable in marble industry. Despite of the huge reserves of carbonate rocks generally in Our country, there is a limited amount of carbonate reserves that have the desired properties sought after in the marble sector. Taurus mountain belt has one of the important parts of these reserves. The limestones that belong to Taurus carbonate autochthons and allochthons reside between Senirkent (Isparta) and Yalcaç (Isparta) destricts and are in the Taurus mountain belt. There is no any on going marble quarries on the limestones with beige colors that has been extracted from Gökhacıdağ and Bakırdağ formations, as these formations have many structural problems and are not economic. Despite this, there is vast production of marble blocks from the Ergenli limestones that have appropriate structural, textural and mineralogical properties. There is 1 marble quarry on the study area that is working and producing marbles from this formation. Even if there was no problems on the reserve quality of these limestones, there is many problems on the structural properties and homogeneity of these limestones. Therefore tens of marble quarries have terminated their activities. So it will indicates the prior importance of the feasibility works.
