Bu çalışma kapsamında, Irak'ın teorik olarak saha ve teknik güneş enerjisi potansiyeli araştırılarak belirlenmiş, günlük detayda yıllık elektrik tüketim veri seti oluşturulmuş ve elektrik tüketimi fotovoltaik yapıda simüle edilmiş, fotovoltaik elektrik üretim sistemleriyle karşılama durumu değerlendirilmiştir. Çalışma sadece Basra, Bağdat ve Kerkük şehirleri ile sınırlandırılmış bu üç bölgenin Irak'ın güneş enerji potansiyelini temsil edebilme becerisi olduğuna kanaat getirilmiştir ve bu bölgelerde ortalama bir hanenin toplam ihtiyaçları göz önünde bulundurularak değerlendirilmiştir. Bölgenin yıllık toplam güneşlenme süresi; Basra için 4420 saat, Bağdat için 4417 saat ve Kerkük için de 4380 saat ve saha güneş enerjisi potansiyeli Basra için 2915 kWh/m2, Bağdat için 2274 kWh/m2 ve Kerkük için de 2106 kWh/m2 olarak hesaplanmıştır. Yıllık toplam teorik güneş enerjisi potansiyeli 3 şehir için ortalama 2431 kWh/m2 olan bölgelerde; yatayda tam güneye bakan ve dikeyde Basra için 15 derece, Bağdat için 20 derece ve Kerkük için de 30 derece açıyla yerleştirilen fotovoltaik panellerle kurulacak bir güneş elektriği üretim sisteminin teknik güneş enerjisi potansiyeli; Basra için 5316,96 kWh/yıl, Bağdat için 5184,72 kWh/yıl ve Kerkük için de 4802,86 kWh/yıl bulunmuştur. Ortalama bir hanenin yıllık elektrik tüketimi 4693,49 kWh/yıl olarak belirlenmiş olup mevsimlere göre de toplam enerji tüketimi yaz aylarında 2154,74 kWh/yıl, bahar aylarında 416,91 kWh/yıl ve kış aylarında da 961,83 kWh/yıl olarak belirlenmiştir. Bu yükü karşılayabilecek şebeke ve aynı zamanda akü bağlantılı Poly-Crystalline Silicon FV modülü 0,75 performans oranına sahip tüketim davranışlarına ve çevre şartlarına en uygun donanımlardan olduğu sonucuna varılmıştır. FV modüllerinin sayıları Basra için 8 adet, Bağdat için 9 adet çıkarken Kerkük için ise 10 adet FV modül sistemi çıkmaktadır. Bu çalışmada ilgili şehirler için yapılan maliliyet hesapları sonucu; Basra için 8998 $ ve Bağdat ile Kerkük için de 9628 er $ tutarında FV güneş paneli sistemleri ile karşılanabileceği görülmüştür. Bu veriler ışığında çalışmamızın ilk bölümünde elektrik enerjisi ve üretim yöntemleri ile ikinci bölümde de güneş enerji sistemleri anlatılmıştır. Üçüncü bölümde ise tezin esasını teşkil eden Irak'taki enerji üretimini ele alıp Irak'ta mevcut enerji politikalarını ve güneş enerjisi ile enerji açığının durumu ve bu açığın giderilebilirliği üzerinde çalışılmıştır. In this study scope, Iraq's area and solar power potential are searched and defined theoretically, it's created a set of data about annually electric consumption in daily detail and electric consumption is simulated in a photovoltaic way, the state of compensation by photovoltaic electric generation systems is evaluated. The study is limited by Basra, Baghdad, Kirkuk cities and it's thought that these three area can represent the solar power of Iraq and it's evaluated by considering a house's total needs. The total insolation time of the area; 4420 hours for Basra, 4417 for Baghdad and 4380 hours for Kirkuk. The solar power potential of area is calculated; 2915 kWh/m2 for Basra, 2274 kWh/m2 for Baghdad and 2106 kWh/m2 for Kirkuk. The total theoretical solar power potential annually in the areas where it's 2431 kWh/m2 for three cities on average, technical solar power potential of an electric generation system with photovoltaic panels placed with 15 degrees angle for Basra in vertical situation and looking at exactly through south in horizontal situation, 20 degrees for Baghdad and 30 degrees for Kirkuk is calculated about 5316.96 kWh/year for Basra, 5184.72 kWh/year for Baghdad, 4802.86 kWh/year for Kirkuk. The annual electric consumption of a house is stated 4693.49 kWh/year; for seasons, total energy consumption is 2154.74 kWh/year in summer, 416.91 kWh/year in spring, 961.83kWh/year in winter. It's reached the conclusion that Poly-Crystalline Silicon PV module which is a network that meets this load and and has a battery connection is appropriate for consumption conducts having 0.75 performance rate and for environmental conditions. The numbers of the modules is 8 for Basra, 9 for Baghdad and 10 for Kirkuk. With the result of the cost calculations done for the cities; it's found out that Photovoltaic solar power panel systems that cost, 8998 $ for Basra and 9628 $ for each Baghdad and Kirkuk are good enough to fulfill. Under the light of these informations, electric energy and generation ways in the first part and the solar power systems are explained in the second part of our study. In third part, dealing with the energy generation in Iraq, it's studied on the current energy policies in Iraq and the state of solar power and energy deficit and eliminating this deficit.
