Bu çalışmada Türkiye ve yakın çevresinin sismik tehlikesi ve sismisitenin uzaysal dağılımı değerlendirilmiştir. Çalışma alanı 26°-45°D ve 36°-42°K enlemlerinde Türkiye ve Akdeniz'i içine alan bölgede yer almaktadır. Bu alan Afrika, Arap ve Avrasya plakalarının kompleks deformasyonları sonucu büyük depremlere sahne olan Dünya'nın en aktif bölgelerinden biridir. Klasik Gutenberg-Richter frekans-magnitüd ilişkisi (LogN=a-bM) depremlerin öncüsü, deprem tehlikesinin değerlendirilmesi ve sismisite ile ilişkili olarak en yaygın kullanılan bağıntıdır. Sismisite ve sismik tehlikelerin belirlenmesinde hayati önem taşıyan giriş parametresi ise deprem kataloglarıdır. Bu amaçla 26°-45°D ve 36°-42°K enlem ve boylamları arasında 1964-2014 yılları arasında magnitüdü 4'den büyük (M≥4) depremlerin ISC ve USGS ağlarınca kaydedilmiş depremler kullanılmıştır. Sismisite parametresi b'nin hesaplanması ve haritalanabilmesi için bu bölge 0.5°D x 0.5°K ve r=0.5 yarıçaplı dairesel alt bölgelere ayrılmıştır. Her bir alt bölge için Guthenberg- Richter ilişkisindeki a ve b değerleri Maksimum Likelihood ve Kaltek metodları kullanılarak hesaplanmıştır. Bunlara ek olarak maksimum bölgesel magnitüd Mmax değeride farklı metodlar kullanılarak hesaplanıp haritalanmıştır. In this study, the spatial distributions of seismicity and seismic hazard were assessed for Turkey and its vicinity. The examined area is located between 36–42ON and 26–45OE that includes Turkey and the Mediterranean region. This area is one of the most seismically active regions in the world and has large earthquakes, whose complex deformation results from the continental collision between the African, Arabian and Eurasian plates, along the history. The classical Gutenberg-Richter frequency–magnitude relation (LogN=a-bM) is commonly used, especially in association with earthquake precursors, probabilistic earthquake hazard assessments and seismicity. Earthquake catalogs are an essential input parameter needed to analyze seismicity and seismic hazard. For this purpose, earthquakes that occurred between 1964 and 2014 with magnitudes of M≥4 recorded from ISC and USGS networks were used in the region 36-42°N and 26-45°E. This region is gridded 0.5OE x 0.5O N with r=0.5O circular sub-regions for the calculation of seismicity parameters (b-value) and its mapping. In each sub-region, the b value from the Gutenberg–Richter frequency–magnitude relation is calculated using Maximum likelihood and Kaltek method approach.
