Bu tez çalışmasında, 6 farklı molekül ağırlığına (zincir uzunluğu) sahip (Mn:480, 500, 950, 2000, 4000 ve 5000 g/mol) metoksipolietilen glikol (met)akrilat (mPEG(M)A) ve 2-akrilamido-2-metil-1-propansülfonik asit (AMPS) monomerleri kullanılarak mPEG(M)A-co-AMPS kopolimerleri sentezlenmiş ve bu kopolimerlerin süperakışkanlaştırıcı (SA) olarak çimento esaslı sistemlerde kullanılabilirliği araştırılmıştır. Farklı yan zincir uzunluğu taşıyan mPEG(M)A-co-AMPS kopolimerleri, serbest radikalik kopolimerizasyon reaksiyonuyla 750C’de azot gazı ortamında sentezlenmiş, yapısal karakterizasyonu FTIR ve molekül ağırlıkları tayini su bazlı GPC ile gerçekleştirilmiştir. SA’ların çimento yüzeyine adsorpsiyonu belirlenerek, çimento hamuru ve çimento harcının işlenebilirliği, reolojisi ve mekanik dayanımı üzerindeki etkileri incelenmiştir. Genel olarak sülfonat-karboksilat bazlı SA olarak da adlandırılabilen mPEG(M)A-co-AMPS, çimentolu sistemlerdeki performansı açısından lignosülfonat (LS) bazlı SA ile de karşılaştırılmış ve deney bulguları birlikte değerlendirilmiştir. Sonuç olarak, mPEG(M)A-co-AMPS ile akışkanlaştırılan çimento hamur ve harçlarının işlenebilirliğinin yan zincir uzunluğunun artışı ile arttığı, reolojik parametrelerinin de değiştiği belirlenmiştir. Sentezlenen kopolimerler, ticari LS ile karşılaştırıldığında çimento esaslı sistemlerde yüksek oranda akışkanlaştırma ve zamana bağlı akışkanlığın korunması etkilerini sağlamıştır. Harçların 28 günlük mekanik dayanım bulgularından ise, yüksek SA dozunun dışında mPEG(M)A yan zincir boyu arttıkça harç dayanımlarının azaldığını görülmüştür. Geliştirilen mPEG(M)A-co-AMPS kopolimerlerinin çimento harcı ve beton üretiminde süperakışkanlaştırıcı olarak kullanılabilirliğinin olduğu, kullanım dozu-performans değerlendirmeleri yapılarak optimum dozun tercih edilmesi gerekliliği tespit edilmiştir. Ayrıca, kendi yapısına benzer ticari muadilleri ile karşılaştırıldığında çimento harçlarında daha olumlu etkilere neden olduğu da elde edilen bir diğer bulgudur. In this study, copolymers of mPEG(M)A-co-AMPS were synthesized from the monomers of metoxypolyethylene glycol (meth)acrylate (mPEG(M)A) possessing 6 different molecular weights (chain length) (Mn:480, 500, 950, 2000, 4000 ve 5000 g/mole) and 2-acrylamido-2-methyl-1-propanesulfonic acid (AMPS) and, as a superplasticizer (SP) the usabilities of these copolymers in cement-based systems were investigated. The copolymers of mPEG(M)A-co-AMPS having different side-chain lengths were synthesized by free radical copolymerization at 750C with nitrogen gas purging, the structural characterization and molecular weight determination of copolymers were achieved by FTIR and water-based GPC respectively. The adsorption amounts of SPs onto cement surface were determined, the effects of SPs on workability, rheology and mechanical strength of cement pastes and cement mortars were investigated. mPEG(M)A-co-AMPS, which is also called as sulfonate-carboxylate based SP generally, was also compared with lignosulfonate (LS) based SP in terms of its performance in cement systems and their experimental results were evaluated together. As a result it was determined that, the workabilities of cement pastes and mortars superplasticized with mPEG(M)A-co-AMPS improve with increasing side chain length of copolymer, cement pastes and mortars’ rheological parameters also change. Compared with commercial LS, synthesized copolymers provided higher fluidity and fluidity-retention effects to cement-based systems. From the mechanical strength results of mortars at the age of 28 days it was seen that, with the increment of side-chain length of mPEG(M)A the strength of mortar decreases except high SP dosage. It was determined that, as a superplasticizer the usability of mPEG(M)A-co-AMPS copolymers developed is possible in the production of cement mortar and concrete and, optimum SP dosage should be preferred by doing application dosage-performance evaluations. Additionally, another finding is that, synthesized copolymers cause better effects on cement mortars compared with the effects of their commercial counterparts.
