Bu tez çalışması; 4 aşamada tamamlanmıştır. Birinci aşamada, bir silikat minerali olan genleşmiş perlit (EP) ile bir doğal biyopolimer olan kitosan (CS) kullanılarak, %1 CH3COOH ortamında EP/CS kompozitlerinin sentezleri gerçekleştirilmiştir. EP/CS kompozitlerinde kitosan oranı (%10, %20, %50) değiştirilerek kompozitler hazırlanmıştır. İkinci aşama, sentezlenen kompozitlerin karakterizasyonunu oluşturmaktadır. Yapısal özellikleri Fourier Dönüşümlü Kızılötesi Spektroskopisi (FTIR) ile aydınlatılarak kompozit oluşumunu destekleyen pikler gözlenmiştir. Bozunma sıcaklıkları termal gravimetrik analiz (TGA) ile incelenmiştir ve termal kararlılık sıralaması EP>EP/CSC1>EP/CSC2>EP/CSC3>CS olarak değişmektedir. Taramalı elektron mikroskobu-enerji dağılımı spektrometresi (SEM-EDS) ile numunelerin yüzey morfolojileri incelenmiştir. Kompozit yapısının oluştuğu yüzey morfolojisi değişimden ve artan C, N oranlarından belirlenmiştir. X-Işını Kırınımı (XRD) analizleri sentezlenen kompozitlerin amorf yapıda olduğunu göstermiştir. Ayrıca, kompozitlerde kitosan oranı arttırıldıkça iletkenlik ve tanecik boyutu değerlerinde artış, yoğunluk değerlerinde azalma gözlenmiştir. Bir sonraki aşamada; kompozitlerin zeta(ζ)-potansiyeli üzerine pH, farklı değerlikli tuzlar, yüzey aktif maddeler ve sıcaklık etkileri incelenmiştir. ζ-potansiyeli değerlerinden kompozitlerin kolloidal kararlılık için olması beklenen aralıkta (+30m≤ζ ≤-30mV) olduğu görülmüştür. Son aşamada ise: kompozitlerin antimikrobiyal aktivitelerine bakılmıştır. Kompozitlerin hiçbir bakteriye karşı antibakteriyal aktivite göstermediği, bazı mantarlara ise antifungal etki gösterdiği belirlenmiştir. This thesis was completed in 4 stages. In the first stage, the EP/CS composites were synthesized by using expanded perlite (EP), which is a silicate minerals, and chitosan (CS), which is the naturel biopolymer, in %1 CH3COOH solution. The properties of EP/CS composites were prepared by changing in the ratio of chitosan (%10, %20, %50, w/w). The second step is the characterization of the synthesized samples. The structural properties of samples were found using Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR) spectrometer peaks were observed that it supported the formation of composites. Decomposition temperatures were investigated by using thermal analysis (TGA) and thermal stabilities of composites showed EP>EP/CSC1>EP/CSC2 >EP/CSC3>CS respectively. Surface morphologies of the samples were investigated by means of scanning electron microscopy- energy dispersion spectrometry (SEM-EDS). Structure of composites were characterized by means of SEM-EDS images and increasing in the rate of C, N. X-ray diffraction (XRD) analysis has shown that the synthesized composites are amorphous. In addition, when the chitosan ratio increased in the composite structure, conductivity and particle size of the composites increased and densities decreased. In the next stage, electrokinetic properties of composites were examined as a function of pH, various electrolytes, surfactants, and temperature. The zeta potential values of composites were observed in colloidally stable range (+30m≤ζ ≤-30mV). Finally, the antimicrobial activities of the composites were examined. While composites had no antibacterial activity against the bacteria, antifungal effect was observed against some fungi.
