Bu çalışma, Isparta İlinin kuzeyinde yer alan Karaadilli ve Gençali Neojen havzalarının, jeolojik özelliklerinin ortaya çıkarılmasını ve kömür jeolojisi açısından incelenmesini amaçlar. Bu amaçla Karaadilli ve Gençali Neojen havzaları ve yakın çevresinin jeolojik ve jeofizik özellikleri incelenmiş ve bu alanda yapılan sondajlar değerlendirilmiştir. Karaadilli ve Gençali Neojen havzaları güney kenarları D-B gidişli normal faylarla sınırlandırılmış asimetrik bir çöküntü yapısına sahip dağ arası havzalardır. Bu havzalar içinde yer alan Neojen tortul istifi, genellikle altta fluviyal, üstte ise fluviyo-lacustrine ve lacustrine tortullardan meydana gelen kırıntılı ve karbonatlı tortul kayalardan oluşur. Bölgede yayılım gösteren Mesozoyik yaşlı masif kireçtaşları ve dolomitler ile bunlara eşlik eden ofiyolitik kayalar, yöredeki Neojen havzalarının temelini oluşturur. Havzalarında yapılan jeofizik çalışmaları, temel kaya topoğrafyası yanısıra, havzayı sınırlayan fay sistemlerinin yer altı konumunu ve asimetrik tortul dolgu geometrisinin varlığını göstermiştir. Havzaları güneyden sınırlayan faylara bağlı olarak, yüksek hızda gelişen sübsidans, epiklastik ve piroklastik kırıntılı bileşenlerin çökelme ortamına yaygın bir şekilde taşınmasına neden olmuştur. Havza içine yaygın olarak taşınması sonucunda, havzalarında kömür oluşumuna elverişli organik madde birikimi yeterli düzeyde gelişememiştir. Bunun yerine kalınlığı 12 metreye ulaşan siyahımsı ve koyu grimsi renklerde olabilen kömürlü çamurtaşları ve kömürlü silttaşları oluşmuştur. The aim of this study is to investigate the geological characteristics of the Karaadilli and Gençali Neogene basins in the north of Isparta province in terms of coal geology. For this purpose, the geological and geophysical properties of the Karaadilli and Gençali Neogene basins and their immediate surroundings were examined and the drills made in this area were evaluated. Neogene basins of Karaadilli and Gençali are inter-mountain basins with an asymmetric collapse structure restricted to normal faults with southern edges E-W. The Neogene sedimentary rocks in these basins are composed mainly of fluvial at the bottom and detrital and carbonated sedimentary rocks at the top of which are fluviolacustrine and lacustrine sediments. The Mesozoic aged massive limestones and dolomites and their accompanying ophiolitic rocks are the basis of the Neogene basins in the region. Geophysical studies carried out in the basins showed the presence of an underground location and an asymmetric sedimentary fill geometry of the fault systems that limit the basin, as well as the basic rock topography. Depending on the faults that bound the basins from the south, the high velocity sedimentation, epiclastic and pyroclastic crustal components have been extensively transported to the sedimentation environment. As a result of extensive transport into the basin, the accumulation of organic matter suitable for coal formation in the basins has not been adequately developed. Instead, coal mudstones and charcoal siltstones, which can be blackish and dark grayish in color with a thickness of 12 meters, are formed.
