Bu tez çalışmasında CST Mikrodalga ve Parçacık Stüdyo yazılımları kullanılarak lineer vakum tüplerinden olan yürüyen dalga tüplerinin modellenmesi gerçekleştirildi. Literatürden edinilen bilgilere göre modelleme çalışmaları gerçekleştirildikten sonra bu yapılar simülasyonlara tabi tutuldu. Yürüyen dalga tüplerini oluşturan temel yapı olan dalga yavaşlatma yapılarının parametrik simülasyonları ile yüksek frekans karakteristikleri araştırıldı. Dalga yavaşlatma yapısının temel bileşeni olan helis yapısının boyutlarıyla ilgili olan parametrelerin en kritik parametreler olduğu gözlendi. Bu parametreler içinde en önemli olan iki parametre yarıçap ve helis periyodu olarak analiz edildi. Yarıçapın, çalışma frekansına olan doğrudan etkisi grafiklerle gösterildi. Helis periyodunun ise sistemin faz hızına olan etkisi benzer şekilde ortaya koyuldu. Yürüyen dalga tüplerinin önemli bileşenlerinden olan manyetik alan kaynakları; selenoit ve kalıcı periyodik mıknatıs sistemleri ayrıca modellendi. Bu yapıların ne şekilde modellenmesi gerektiği literatür bilgisi ve gerçek hayat uygulamaları açısından örneklenerek simülasyona sokuldu. Elde edilen sonuçlarla hem mıknatıs sistemiyle hem de selenoitle elektron demeti odaklanarak başarılı bir biçimde yöntemin doğruluğu gösterildi. Ayrıca yürüyen dalga tüplerinin yüksek frekans sinyalleri iletmesinde ve gerçek hayatta kullanılan ve geneli 50 Ohm empedansa sahip kaynaklara bağlanmasını sağlayan kuplör elemanlar modellendi. Yapılan modellerin simülasyon sonuçları sistemin iyileştirildiğini belgeler nitelikte oldu. Farklı frekanslarda ve farklı geometrilerdeki yapıların da simülasyonları ve bu simülasyonların ne şekilde yapılması gerektiği anlatılarak konuya ilgisi olanlar için öğretici nitelikte bir çalışma ortaya koyuldu. In this thesis, traveling wave tubes, one of the branches of the linear vacuum tubes, are modeled by using the CST Microwave & Particle Studio softwares. The models were constructed due to the knowledge granted from the literature search and simulated afterwards. The main part of the traveling wave tubes, which is called the slow wave structures, are parametrically simulated and their high frequency characteristics were investigated. The helix being the main part of the slow wave structure is also investigated parametrically and it was found that the most important parameters are the helix radius and the period. The graphical results showed that the radius defines the frequency band and the period playing a vital role in the phase velocity of the RF. Tha magnetic field sources of the TWTs; solenoids and periodic permanent magnets were modeled additionally. Real life limitations and literature knowledge were applied together to demonstrate how those elements should be modeled. Magnetic fields of both models were applied to TWT simulation and they successfully confined the electron beam. Moreover, the couplers, which are used to match the impedance between the TWT and the sources and sinks were modeled. Simulation results showed the improvement that is the result of the coupling elements. Finally, different slow wave structures and different frequency band simulations were given and how these simulations should be done were explained thoroughout this work. In this manner, this work should clarify the subject of traveling wave tube modeling and simulations by using the CST software for people that are interested and eager to have some insights.
