Bu çalışmanın amacı, darbe sonrası deniz suyu, yağmur suyu ve kuru ortam koşullarında bekletilen cam elyaf / epoksi kompozit malzemelerin basma dayanımlarının incelenmesidir. Deneysel çalışma için 8 ve 12 tabakalı cam elyaf/epoksi kompozit plakalar üretilmiştir. Üretimi yapılan bu plakalardan darbe sonrası basma testi için standartlara uygun olarak 150 mm x 100 mm boyutunda numuneler kesilmiştir. Kompozit numunelere Fractovis Plus darbe test cihazı kullanılarak düşük hızlı darbe testi uygulanmıştır. Numunelerin darbe testleri oda sıcaklığında 10J, 20J ve 30J'lük üç farklı enerjide ağırlık düşürme test metodu ile yapılmıştır. Darbe testleri sonucu maksimum kuvvet, maksimum çökme ve toplam absorbe edilen enerjileri belirlenmiştir. 12 tabakalı numunelerin darbe dayanımlarının 8 tabakalı numunelere göre 10 joule darbe enerjisi altında %18.77, 20 joule darbe enerjisi altında % 47.65 ve 30 joule darbe enerjisi altında % 51.36 oranında arttığı belirlenmiştir. Artan darbe enerjisi ile maksimum kuvvet ve çökme miktarı değerlerinin de arttığı görülmüştür. Bunun sonucu olarak darbe enerjisinin arttırılması ile hasarın meydana geldiği bölgede delaminasyon alanlarının genişlediği, fiberlerin kırıldığı ve delinme hasarının oluştuğu gözlenmiştir. Cam elyaf / epoksi kompozit malzemelerin darbe sonrası basma dayanımına yama etkisi de ayrıca incelenmiştir. Yukarıda belirtilen ortam koşullarının etkisinin araştırılması için darbe deneyi sonrası, hem yama işlemi uygulan numuneler hem de yama işlemi uygulanmayan numuneler deniz suyu ve yağmur suyunda 3 ay boyunca laboratuvar koşullarında bekletilmişlerdir. Deniz suyu ve yağmur suyunda bekletilen numuneler bekleme süreleri dolunca bekleme ortamlarından alınarak ASTM D 7137 standartına göre hazırlanmış olan aparata yerleştirilerek basma deneyleri yapılmıştır. Darbe sonrası bası testleri Universal Shimadzu AG-X test cihazında 1mm/dk basma hızında uygulanmıştır. Her üç koşulda bekletilen numunelerin darbe sonrası basma testleri sonucunda, kuru ortam numunelerine göre deniz ve yağmur suyuna maruz kalan numunelerin basma dayanımlarının arttığı gözlenmiştir. Ayrıca yama yapılan numunelerin de darbe sonrası basma dayanımları değerlerinde de artış söz konusudur. Cam elyaf epoksi kompozitlerin darbe sonrası basma dayanımı üzerine deniz ve yağmur suyunun önemli bir etkiye sahip olduğu görülmektedir. The aim of this study is to investigate of compressive strength of glass fiber/epoxy composite materials which is exposed to seawater, rainwater and dry conditions after impact. 8 and 12-layers of glass fiber/epoxy composite plates were manufactured for empirical study. Samples of size 150mm x 100mm were cut from these produced laminate according to the ASTM standard for compression after impact (CAI) tests. Impact tests was conducted using a Fractovis Plus impact test machine at room temperature. The samples were subjected to low velocity impact loading using an instrumented drop-weight system at three different energy levels of 10J, 20J and 30J. As a result of impact tests, impact characteristics such as peak force, maximum deflection and total absorbed energy were determined. In impact strengths the 12-layer of samples compared to 8-layer samples were observed an increase of 18.77% under 10 joule impact energy, 47.65% under 20 joule impact energy and 51.36% under 30 joule impact energy, respectively. It was also clearly seen that the maximum force and the amount of collapse increased in the values of increasing impact energy. As a result, it is observed that the areas of the delamination have appeared, the fibers have been broken more and the perforation damage has occurred in the region where the damage is caused by the increase of the impact energy. Patch effect on the compressive strength of glass fiber/epoxy composite materials which is exposed to impacted damage was also investigated. In order to investigate the effect of the above-mentioned environmental conditions, both patch-applied samples and non-patch-applied samples were kept in seawater having 3.8% of salt and rainwater in a closed container indoors for 3 months at laboratory conditions for after impact test. Samples immersed in seawater and rainwater were taken from closed container at the end of 3 months and placed in the apparatus. Compression after impact tests were carried out using an Universal Shimadzu AG-X testing machine with a speed of 1 mm/min according to ASTM D 7137 standard test method. As a result of the post-impact tests of the samples held in all three conditions, the compressive strengths of the samples exposed to seawater and rainwater increased according to the compressive strength of the dry samples. It is also figured out that the compressive after impact strengths of the patch samples increased. The results of the study indicate that seawater and rainwater have a significant effect on compression-after-impact (CAI) strength of glass fiber-epoxy composites.
