Bu çalışma Somali'nin Afgoi-Alt Shabelle Bölgesinde mısır bitkisinde azot etkinliğinin belirlenmesi amacıyla 2017 yılında yürütülmüş, bahar ve güz dönemi olmak üzere iki dönemde bir deneme kurulmuştur. Denemede 8 farklı azot dozu (0 kg N / ha; 25 kg N / ha; 50 kg N / ha; 75 kg N / ha; 100 kg N / ha; 125 kg N / ha; 150 kg N / ha ve 175 kg N / ha) ve üç uygulama yöntemi (serpme, sıraya uygulama ve banda uygulama) uygulanmıştır. Deneme üç tekerrürlü olarak yürütülmüştür. Mısırda bitki boyu (cm), koçan sayısı, koçan uzunluğu (cm), koçan ağırlığı (g), 1000-tane ağırlığı (g), kuru sap verimi (t ha-1), tane verimi (t ha-1), biyolojik verim (t ha-1) ve hasat indeksi (%) belirlenmiştir. Toplanan veriler istatistiksel olarak analiz edilmiş ve ortalamalar DMRT ile % 1 ve % 5 olasılık seviyesinde önemli olup olmadığı değerlendirilmiştir. Çalışma sonucunda bahar döneminde, farklı azot dozlarının tamamında önemli farklılık olduğu görülmüştür. En yüksek kuru sap (6.98 t ha-1) ve tane verimi (3.99 t ha-1) A5 dozunda (100 kg N/ha) elde edilmiştir. Uygulanan yöntemler arasında önemli bir farklılık bulunmamasına karşın azot dozu ve yöntemlerin etkileşimi birlikte değerlendirildiğinde en yüksek kuru sap verimi (7.02 t ha-1) ve en yüksek tane verimi (4.07 t ha-1) banda uygulamasının A5 dozundan elde edilmiştir. Güz döneminde de bahar dönemine benzer olarak, farklı azot dozlarının tamamında önemli farklılık olduğu görülmüştür. En yüksek kuru sap (6.31 t ha-1) ve tane verimi (3.59 t ha-1 ) A5 dozunda elde edilmiştir. The experiments was conducted at the experimental farm of Somali Ministry of Agriculture, in Afgoi, lower Shabelle, Somalia in 2017 spring and autumn. The treatments consisted of eight rates of N (0 kg N/ha; 25 kg N/ha; 50 kg N/ha; 75 kg N/ha; 100 kg N/ha; 125 kg N/ha; 150 kg N/ha and 175 kg N/ha.) and three applying methods (broadcasting, row placement, and hill placement). Data were collected on plant height (cm), number of cobs plant-1, cob length (cm), cob weight (g), 1000-grain weight (g), Stover yield (t ha-1), grain yield (t ha-1), biological yield (t ha-1) and harvest index (%). The layout of the experiment was designed in RCBD with three replications. The collected data were analyzed statistically and means were adjudged by DMRT at 1 and 5% level of probability. In sprıng season, the maximum stover yield (6.98 t ha-1) was recorded in N5. The maximum grain yield (3.99 t ha-1) was noted from N5 while the lowest grain yield (3.30 t ha-1) was observed from N1 (control). According to the methods of application there was no significant variation in all parameters measured but the interaction effect was significant different among the treatments the maximum stover yield (7.02 t ha-1) and grain yield (4.07 t ha-1) was recorded in N5 and hill placement. In autumn season, the maximum stover yield (6.31 t ha-1) was recorded in N5 while the maximum grain yield (3.59 t ha-1) was noted from N5. In method of applications there was no significant variation in yield and yield contributing characters in maize although interaction effect varied significantly. The maximum stover yield (6.51 t ha-1) and grain yield (3.64 t ha-1) was recorded in N5 (100 kg N ha-1) hill placement. The highest economic benefit ($733 ha-1) was obtained from applying 100 kg N ha-1 and method of row placement.
