Burdur yerleşiminde kuruluşundan itibaren Türk, Rum, Ermeni ve sosyo-kültürel yapısı farklı olan diğer topluluklar 1925 yılında gerçekleşen mübadeleye kadar birlikte yaşam sürmüşlerdir. Yaşanan siyasi, ekonomik gelişmeler ve göçler sonrasında bölgede sadece kimliklerini değiştiren ve İslam dinini benimseyen Rum ve Ermeni halkı yaşamaya devam etmiş, diğerleri ise göçmek zorunda kalmıştır. Bu halklar genellikle bazı mahallerde yoğunluklu olarak yaşamış ve o yerleşimlerde zaman içerisinde kendilerine özel yapılı çevreyi oluşturmuşlar; konutlar, kamu yapıları, eğitim yapıları ve dini yapılar inşa etmişlerdir. Tez kapsamında ele alınacak olan Kavaklı Ortodoks Rum Kilisesi'nin bulunduğu Zafer Mahallesi yaşanan mübadele ile değişim göstermiş bir yerleşim olup, tarihsel süreçteki izleri, konut yapıları ve kilise yapısı ile sürdürmektedir. Mübadele sonrası kentte Rum Ortodoks halkının azalması ile kullanıcı cemaatinin oluşmaması ve yasalar gereği özgün işlevinde kullanılamayan kilise yapısı zarar görmüş, birtakım mimari özelliklerini ve dini yapı olma özelliğini kaybetmiştir. Yapı Burdur kent yerleşimi ve Zafer Mahallesi için tarihi bir belge özelliği göstermektedir. Yapıda 2009-2014 yılları arasında gerçekleştirilen onarım çalışmaları, yapının sosyo-kültürel ve fiziksel sürdürülebilirliğinin sağlanması için önem taşımaktadır. Yapının tarihsel sürecinin arşivler yardımı ile ortaya çıkarılması, yapının mimari özelliklerinin belirlenmesi, mekânsal analizinin yapılması, söz konusu kapsamlı onarımın tüm detayları ile aktarması ve yeniden işlevlendirme sürecinin değerlendirilmesi tezin amaçlarını oluşturmaktadır. Çalışma kapsamında genel olarak; tarihsel bilgiler karşılaştırma yöntemiyle tartışılmış, yapının eski belgeleri ve edinilen diğer bilgilerden mekânsal okumalar yapılmıştır. Tarihi değerlendirme ve karşılaştırmalarından sonra yapının onarım süreci, yeni işlevi, restorasyon projesi, şantiye verileri (fotoğraf ve videolar) ve uygulama tekniği birlikte aktarılarak genel değerlendirmeler yapılmıştır. 1925 yılında yaşanan büyük mübadeleden önce bir Rum mahallesinin merkezine inşa edilmiş olan kilise yapısı çevresinde, günümüzde tescilli ya da tescili gerçekleşmemiş birçok konut yapısı ve mezarlıklar bulunmaktadır. Kültürel sürekliliği sağlamak, tarihe ışık tutmak, kent belleğini korumak ve daha büyük ölçekte, tarihi dokunun korunması için kilise yapısı ile birlikte çevresindeki yapıların korunması gerekmektedir. From the foundation of the Burdur settlement, the Turks, Greeks, Armenians and other communities with different socio-cultural structures lived together until the exchange in 1925. After the political, economic developments and migrations, the Greek and Armenian people, who only changed their identities and adopted the Islamic religion, continued to live in the region and the others had to migrate. These peoples generally lived in some places intensively, and over time they built their own custom built environment; dwellings, public buildings and educational buildings and religious buildings. In the scope of the thesis, The Zafer Neighbourhood where the Kavaklı Orthodox Greek Church is to be considered is a settlement that has changed with the lived exchange and continues with the traces in the historical process, the residential structures and the church structure. The decrease in the number of Greek Orthodox people in the city after the intervention resulted in the loss of the user community and the church structure which could not be used for the original function due to the laws, lost some architectural features and religious structure features. The structure shows a historical documentary characteristic for Burdur city settlement and Zafer neighbourhood. Repair work carried out between 2009-2014 is important for ensuring the socio-cultural and physical sustainability of the construction. The purpose of the thesis is to reveal the historical process of construction with the help of archives, to determine the architectural characteristics of the building, to make the spatial analysis, to convey the detailed repair with all the details and to evaluate the refunctioning. Within the scope of the study; Historical information was discussed by way of comparison, spatial documents were read from old documents and other acquired information. After the evaluation and comparison of the historical, the repair process, the new function, the restoration project, the site data (photos and videos) and the application technique were transferred together and general evaluations were made. There are many registered and unregistered dwellings structures and cemeteries in the vicinity of the church structure, which was built in the centre of a Greek neighbourhood before the large exchange that took place in 1925. It is necessary to protect the structures around the church together with the structure of the church in order to provide cultural continuity, to preserve the cityscape, to protect the urban memory and shed light on the historic touch in a larger scale.
