Mevsimlerin normal seyrinin dışında ısınması veya soğuması olarak bilinen iklim değişimi, özellikle son 30-40 yıllık süreçte sıra dışı bir ısınma periyodu şeklinde küresel bir tehdit halini almıştır. Söz konusu bu süreçte mevsimlere ait sıcaklık anomalileri ortalama değerlerin üzerinde bir hal almış olup, bu durum küresel denge unsurları üzerinde hissedilebilir problemlere yol açmaya başlamıştır. Ortaya çıkan problemler insan hayatı ve diğer tüm canlı organizmaların yaşantısı üzerinde ciddi bir tehdit olmuştur. Küresel ısınma etkilerinin ortaya çıkma sürecinde, özellikle alınabilmesi muhtemel tedbir ve önlemler safhasında insanların konuya ilişkin bilgi ve algı düzeylerinin ortaya konulması önem arz etmektedir. Bu bilgiler ışığında üniversite öğrencilerinin iklim değişimi ve küresel ısınma hakkındaki bilgi düzeyleri ve algılarının ortaya konulması amacıyla gerçekleştirilen bu çalışmada, Süleyman Demirel Üniversitesinin farklı fakültelerin son sınıf öğrencilerine yönelik detaylı bir anket çalışması gerçekleştirilmiştir. Araştırmaya, 2016-2017 eğitim-öğretim yılında öğrenim gören 579 öğrenci katılmıştır. Çalışmada Shapiro-Wilk normallik testi sonucunda parametrik olmadığı tespit edilen veriler ki-kare testi ile analiz edilmiştir. Çalışmadan elde edilen bulgular, üniversite öğrencilerinin iklim değişimi ve küresel ısınma konusunda, bilgi düzeylerinde eksiklik ve algılarında önemli farklılıkların olduğunu ortaya koymuştur. Ayrıca yapılan istatistiksel değerlendirmeler neticesinde eğitim alanları, cinsiyet, medeni durum, aile gelirleri ve yaşadıkları yerlere göre öğrencilerin algısında anlamlı farklılıkların olduğu tespit edilmiştir. Yine çevre ile ilgili ders alan öğrencilerin daha bilinçli bir algıya sahip oldukları tespit edilmiştir. Sonuç olarak üniversite öğrencilerinin eğitim hayatları boyunca konu hakkında bilgi düzeyleri ve algılarını iyileştirmek adına adımların (toplantı, konferans, sergi, sempozyum, çalıştay gibi) atılması gerekmekte olup, bu konuda eyleme geçilmesi gerekmektedir. Climate change, known as warming or cooling of the seasons outside the normal course, has become a global threat with an unusual warm-up period, especially during the last 30-40 years. In this process, the temperature anomalies of the seasons are above the average values, which are beginning to give rise to problems that can be felt on the elements of global equilibrium. These problems have become a serious threat to the life of human and all other living organisms. It is important that the level of knowledge and perception of the people about this subject at the stage of the measures that can be taken especially in the process of the global warming effects. In the light of this information, in this work, which aims to reveal the knowledge levels and perceptions of university students about climate change and global warming, was conducted a detailed questionnaire survey on senior students of different faculties in Suleyman Demirel University. 579 students studying in 2016-2017 academic year participated in the research. The Chi-square test was applied to the study where the Shapiro-Wilk normality test revealed that it was not parametric. Findings from the study show that university students have significant differences in their perceptions and lack of knowledge about climate change and global warming. In addition, it was determined that there were significant differences in the perception of the students according to education branches, gender, marital status, family income and place where they live in the result of the statistical evaluations made. It was also found that the students who are educated about the environment have a more conscious perception. As a result, steps (such as meetings, conferences, exhibitions, symposiums, workshops) need to be taken in order to improve the level of knowledge and perceptions of the university students throughout their education life, which is important.
