Bu çalışmanın amacı, Burdur il merkezinde yaşayan bireylerin sağlık-hastalık olgusuna ilişkin bilgi, tutum ve davranışları ile, toplumsal faktörlerin bu bilgi, tutum ve davranışları ne şekilde etkilediğini tespit etmektir. Araştırma konusu, Sistem Yaklaşımından hareketle açıklanmaya çalışılmıştır. Amacına göre tanımlayıcı ve analitik olan saha araştırması niteliğindeki bu araştırmada Burdur İl merkezindeki tüm mahallelerden örnekleme girecek birey sayıları tabakalı rastlantısal örnekleme yöntemiyle 382 olarak tespit edilmiş; örnekleme giren haneler basit rastlantısal örnekleme yöntemiyle belirlenmiştir. Veriler anket ve mülakat tekniği ile toplanmıştır. Verilerin analizinde SPSS (15.0) kullanılmış; hipotezlerin sınanmasında Ki-Kare Önemlilik testinden yararlanılmıştır. Sonuç olarak; toplumsal faktörler başlığı altında ele alınan toplumsal cinsiyet, medeni durum, aile, eğitim, meslek, gelir, statü ve sınıf, yaşama tarzı, din, sosyal çevre, kültürel değer ve normlar ile ilgili ortaya konulan bazı somut değişkenlerin Burdur'da yaşayan bireylerin sağlık ve hastalığı açıklama, rahatsızlığı algılama ve yardım arama, geleneksel iyileştiricilere gitme, ilaç kullanma, tedaviye uyum ve sağlık hizmetlerini kullanım durumları üzerinde etkili olduğu sonucuna varılmıştır. The aim of the present study was to determine knowledge, attitudes and behaviours of the individuals living in Burdur city center related to health-illness fact, and how social factors affect these knowledge, attitudes and behaviours. The subject matter of the study was tried to be explained from the standpoint of System Approach. In the study which might be called as descriptive and analitic for its purpose, but field research for its type, the number of the individuals from all the streets in the city center of Burdur were found as 382 through the method of stratified random sampling, and the families participating in the sample were chosen by simple random sampling. Data were obtained by the method of survey and interview. SPSS was used in the analysis of data, and Chi-Square Significance test was made use in the testing of the hypotheses. As a result; we came to the conclusion that some concrete variables related to gender, maritial status, family, education, occupation, income, status and social class, life style, religion, social surroundings, cultural values and norms headed as social factors had effects on the conditions of people living in Burdur such as explanation of health and illness, perception of illness and seeking help, counselling traditional healers, taking drugs, complying with treatment and utilization of health services.
