Bu çalışmanın amacı; her ülke ekonomisinde uygulanan ve ileride oluşturulacak ekonomi politikalarını etkileyip yönlendiren, aynı zamanda kalkınmada ve ekonomik büyümede çok önemli rol üslenen ödemeler bilançosunun incelenmesidir. Çalışma üç bölümden oluşmaktadır. İlk bölümde, ödemeler bilançosu tanım ve sınıflandırılması ele alınmış ve ödenmeler bilançosunu oluşturan kalemler hakkında teorik açıklamalarda bulunulmuştur. İkinci bölümde ödemeler bilançosundaki dengesizliğin nedenleri üzerinde durulmuş, bu dengesizliğe yol açan etmenler açıklanmaya çalışılmış ve ödemeler bilançosunda meydana gelen bu dengesizlikleri gideren mekanizma ve yaklaşımlar hakkında bilgiler sunulmuştur. Çalışmanın üçüncü ve son bölümünde ise, Türkiye Ekonomisi'nde 1980 ve sonrası dönemler ele alınarak 1980- 1983, 1983- 1987, 1987- 1994, 1994- 2000, 2000- 2006 dönemlerinde meydana gelen dış ticaret ve ödemeler bilançosundaki gelişme ve değişmelere yer verilmiş ve bu gelişme ve değişmeler ışığında bir değerlendirme yapılarak konunun önemi vurgulanmaya çalışılmıştır. Çalışmamızdaki sayısal verilerin birçoğu www.tuik.gov.tr., www.dtm.gov.tr ve www.tcmb.gov.tr web adreslerinden sağlanmıştır. The aim of this study is to examine the balance of payments applied to the economy of every country and influence the economy politics consisted in the future, at the same time which plays a great role in development and economical growth. The study consists of three parts. In the first part, the description and the classification of the balance of payments have been focused and theoretical explanations have been made about the entries that form the balance of payments. In the second part, the reasons of the imbalance in the balance of payments have been focused, and the factors led to this imbalance have been tried to explain and the information about the mechanism and approaches that remove these imbalances occurring at the balance of payments has been given. In the third and last stage of the study, considering the terms in Turkey's economy in 1980 and the terms after this period the changes and developments occurring in foreign trade and balance of payments in terms 1980-1983, 1983-1987, 1987-1994, 1994-2000, 2000-2006, have been underlined and thinking these changes and developments the importance of the subject has been tried to stress by making an assessment.
