Kumluca, Akdeniz Bölgesi'nde yer alan Antalya İli'nin nüfus bakımından dördüncü büyük ilçesidir. İlçenin doğusunda Kemer, kuzeydoğusunda Antalya il merkezi, kuzeyinde Korkuteli, kuzeybatısında Elmalı, batısında Finike ve güneyinde Akdeniz vardır. Kumluca İlçesi, tarımsal üretim özellikle de örtü altı sebzeciliğinde önemli merkezlerden birisi durumundadır. İlçenin sektörel dağılımında tarım sektörü % 81'lik bir paya sahiptir. Dolayısıyla, ilçenin bir tarım kenti olduğunu söylemek mümkündür. 1960'lara kadar daha çok geleneksel tarım metotlarının uygulandığı ilçede, 1960'lardan sonra özellikle plastiğin örtü altı materyali olarak kullanılmasıyla birlikte örtü altı sebzeciliği hızlı bir gelişme kaydetmiştir. Modern tarım metotlarının uygulanmasının yanında, ilçenin güneyinde yer alan Kumluca Ovası'nın değerli alüvyal topraklar bakımından zengin olması, ilçenin ılıman bir iklime sahip olması ve su kaynaklarının yeterliliği, ilçede tarımın gelişmesinde etkili olan ana unsurlardır. Sonuç olarak, bu çalışmada, Kumluca İlçesi'nin tarımsal faaliyetleri coğrafi bir yaklaşımla ele alınmıştır. İlçenin tarımsal faaliyetlerine etki eden fiziki ve beşeri faktörler teker teker incelenmiş, coğrafi faktörlerin üretim üzerine olan etkisi sebep-sonuç ilişkisi içerisinde değerlendirilmiş ve Kumluca İlçesi'nin tarımsal potansiyeli ortaya konmuştur. Kumluca is the fourth biggest city in terms of population in the province of Antalya which is in the region of Mediterranean. In the east of Kumluca is Kemer, in the northeast provincial centre, in the north Korkuteli, in the northwest Elmalı, in the west Finike and in the South is Mediterranean. Kumluca is one of the important centres for agricultural production especially greenhouse crops. Agricultural sector composes % 81 of all sectors in the city. Therefore, it is clear that Kumluca is an agriculture town. In the town where conventional agriculture methods were used until 1960's, especially after the use of plastic as a greenhouse material, producing greenhouse crops has made significant progress after 60's. Together with the implementation of modern agriculture methods, here are the main factors for development of agriculture in the town: The Plain of Kumluca which is in the south of the town has precious soil, the town has mild weather and there is enough water for crops. As a result, in this study, agricultural activities of Kumluca have been discussed in the light of geographical approaches and the economic values it has have been analysed. Physical and human factors which effect the agricultural activities of the city have been studied one by one, the effects of geographical factors on the production have been analysed in causal connection.
