Bu çalışmada öncelikle rekabet, rekabet gücü ve rekabetçi yapıyı oluşturan faktörler teorik olarak ele alınmış, rekabetçi yapıyı tesis eden faktörlerin tespiti yapılmış ve söz konusu faktörlerin etkileri incelenmeye çalışılmıştır. Daha sonra dericilik sektörü ve Türkiye'deki durumu hakkında genel bir bilgilendirme yapılmış, Yalvaç ilçesi dericilik sektörünün tarihsel süreç içinde gelişimi anlatılmış ve ekonomik yapıdaki önemine değinilmiştir. Yalvaç ilçesindeki dericilik sektörünün etkileşim içinde olduğu rekabetçi yapıyı oluşturan faktörlerinin tespiti ana amacı güdülerek sektörde bulunan firmalara anket yapılmış, ilçede bulunan dericilik sektörünün yapısı, firmaların yapıları, faaliyet alanları ve rekabet edebilirlik düzeyleri tespit edilmeye çalışılmıştır. Sonuç kısmında ise anket bulgularından yola çıkılarak Yalvaç dericilik sektörünün rekabet gücünü arttırmaya yönelik öneriler geliştirilmiştir. This study examines the concept of economic competition and the factors that create a competitive market in a theoretical framework. It also identifies the factors in a competitive market and analyses the impact of each individual component within that structure. The study follows with a general investigation of the leather industry and its current state in Turkey. Within that framework, the study focuses specifically on the leather industry in Yalvac and its development in a historical framework, along with its importance on the economic structure. The main focus in this study has been the identification of the factors that have made Yalvac leather industry a very competitive market. Through the data collected from a series of surveys from the leather companies in Yalvac, the study seeks to find out the structure of the companies and the industry itself, areas of operation and their ability to compete in a free market. Based on the findings, the study ends with some suggestions that would improve Yalvac leather industry's ability to compete at local, regional and global level.
