Hz. Ali, son peygamber Hz. Muhamme'in (s), hem en yakın akrabası hem de damadı olmakla müşerref bir sahabidir. O, Sahabe içerisinde, çocukluğundan beri puta tapınma ve cahiliye adetlerine saplanma gibi bir durumla karşılaşmadan Müslüman olmuştur. Bunun yanında Hz. Ilmi derinliği hakkında pek çok rivayet göstermektedir ki, Hz. Ali sadece sahabenin önde gelenlerinden olmayıp, kendinden sonraki insanları dahi yönlendirecek bir kapasiteye de sahiptir. Hz. Ali, Kur'an-ı Kerim'i tedebbüre dayalı olmayan ve amelsiz bir okumayla anlaşılamayacağını ifade etmektedir. Hz.Ali'ye göre Kur'an her zaman insanlarla konuşmaktadır. Zira Kur'an-ı Kerim, dili yorulmayan bir konuşmacı ve rükünleri yıkılmayan bir evdir. Ona göre Kur'an-ı Kerim, emir ve yasakları bulundurmasının yanında, kulların maslahatına uygun olarak bıraktığı ruhsatları da ihtiva eden ilahi bir kitaptır.
Ali is a companion who was honoured both becoming a closely relative of Prophet (peace be upon him) and also his groom. In companions, he chose Islam without being involved idolatry and jahiliyya (days of ignorance) traditions since his childhood. Additionally Ali, from his early ages, was with messenger of Allah (peace be upon him). He obtained all kind of moral and religious knowledge from last Prophet Mohammad (peace be upon him) and laid the foundations of wisdom under control of prophetic atmosphere. Besides being private scribe of messenger of Allah (peace be upon him), Ali was one of the scribes of divine revelation who was supposed to record verses received from Allah. Like most of other companions he was hafid as well. As many narratives about his perspective of knowledge indicates that Ali is not only a prominent one in the companions but also he had capability to guide next generations. Ali utteres that Quran can not be understood with a deedless and unwary reading. According to Ali, Holy Quran always talks to people. Because Holy Quran is a tireless lecturer and a house which has indestructible pillars. According to him, Quran is a hymn-book that includes not only instructions and restrictions, but also allowances which were tolerated in accordance with human benefits. The interpretation way that Ali followed was, interpretation of Quran with Quran, with sunnah and with personal opinion (rey) and ijtihad. Ali who takes entirety of Quran and Sunnah as a reference point, made self-confident and consistent explanations on verses which are suitable to be adjudged in accordance with personal opinion (rey) and ijtihad. It has been observed that, whenever needed, he adjudged by interpretting any juristic (fıqhi) verses- like not giving third cutting punishment for theft issues- according to benefits which are in accordance with aim of Shari.
