Tekstil ve hazır giyim sanayi, ülkelerin ekonomik kalkınma sürecinde önemli rol oynayan bir sanayi dalıdır. Gelişmiş ülkelerin 18. yüzyılda gerçekleştirdikleri sanayileşme sürecinde önemli katkısı olan tekstil ve hazır giyim sanayi, günümüzde de gelişmekte olan ülkelerin ekonomik kalkınmalarında benzer bir rol oynamaktadır. Türk tekstil ve hazır giyim sektörü ekonominin lider sektörlerinden birisi olup, ihracat gelirlerinin %22.6'sına tekabül etmektedir. Sektörde yaklaşık 2 milyon kişi çalışmakta olup, Türkiye.nin en büyük istihdam grubunu temsil etmektedir (yan sanayiler dahil) Türkiye ekonomisi ve sanayisi içinde önemli bir yere sahip olan bu sektörün değişen dünya rekabet şartlarına uyum sağlaması gerekmektedir. 2008 yılına kadar korunma önlemi kapsamında büyük üretim ve ihracat potansiyeline sahip olan Çin'e karşı uygulanacak kotaların tamamen kalkması sonrasında bu sektörlerde dış ticaret genel Dünya Ticaret Örgütü (DTÖ) kuralları kapsamında yürütülmektedir. Bu tarihten sonra özellikle Türkiye'nin en büyük pazarı olan Avrupa Birliği (AB)'nin Çin'e uyguladığı halde Türkiye'ye kota uygulamaması nedeniyle bu pazarda sahip olduğu göreceli avantajı ortadan kalkmıştır. Bu çalışmada öncelikle tekstil ve hazır giyim sanayinde üretim, tüketim, firma yapısı ve özellikleri ele alınmıştır. Sektörde dünyadaki gelişmeler incelenmiş ve bu gelişmeler kapsamında Türk tekstil ve hazır giyim sanayin mevcut durumu, sorunları ve çözüm önerileri değerlendirilerek SWOT analizi yapılmıştır. Son olarak Türkiye'nin mevcut durumu göz önüne alınarak yeni şartlara uyum için firmalar ile kamu ve sivil toplum örgütleri tarafından alınması gereken tedbirlere yer verilmiş, Türk tekstil ve hazır giyim sektörünün gelişerek varlığını sürdürülebilmesinin ön koşulları dikkate alınarak sektörün geleceği açısından yapılması gerekenlere değinilmiştir. Textile and apperal industry is a branch of industry which plays an important role in the period of countries. economic developing. Today the textile and apperal industry which had an important contribution to developed countries. performing of the process of industrialization, plays a similer role in the economic development of developing countries.. Turkish textile and apperal industry is one of the leader branch of the economy and has the 22.6% of the income of the exportation. Approximately 2 million people are working in that industry and it represents the most active working people group of Turkey.(concludes the supply industries) This sector which has an important role in the Turkish economy and industry, has to comply with the terms of the changing World of competition.Till the 2008, the quotas which are applied against China, under the safeguard of the largest production an export, fully lifted general of the World Trade Organization(WTO)is carried our under the rules. After that date as the European Union(EU) which is Turkey's biggest market doesn't apply to Turkey what it applies to China it's relative advantage in this market will be eliminated. In that study primarily production, consumption, firm structure and properties in the textile and clothing industry were discussed.Developments of this sector in the World were examined and with the scope of this developments the current state of Turkish textile and apperal industries and their problems and solutions were evaluated and SWOT analysis was made.Finally considering the current state of Turkey measures that should be taken to adapt new conditions with the companies in public, were stated, and sustaining the existence of the pre-conditions of the Turkish textile and apparel industry, for the future of the sector what needs to be done taking into account was mentioned.
