1923 yılında kurulan Türkiye Cumhuriyeti hala genç bir ülkedir. Belki bu nedenledir ki, yakın tarih çalışmaları çok kısıtlıdır. Buna rağmen Tek Parti Dönemi (CHP) en çok çalışılan tez konularının başında gelmektedir. Çünkü CHP Türkiye tarihinde önemli ve tartışmalı bir dönemde iktidar mevkiinde bulunmuştur. 1923-1946 dönemi Cumhuriyet’in bütün temel meselelerinin tartışıldığı, şekillendirildiği, çağdaşlaşma idealine rağmen, pragmatist çözümlerle mevcut sorunların giderek ağırlaştığı bir dönemdir. Bu dönem söz konusu olunca da Mustafa Kemal Atatürk’ü ve İsmet İnönü’yü göz ardı etmek elbette ki mümkün değildir. Biri Tek Adam olarak Türklerin kurtarıcısı, devrimlerin kurucusu diğeri ise; İkinci Adam olarak devrimlerin koruyucusudur. Doğal olarak CHP de bu iki isimle ve devrimlerle özdeşleşmiştir. Bu üç unsuru yani CHP, Mustafa Kemal Atatürk ve İsmet İnönü’yü birbirinden bağımsız düşünmek mümkün değildir. Tezde bu üç unsur, kronoloji göz önünde bulundurularak cumhuriyetin temel meseleleri içinde ele alınacak, ayrıca Atatürk ve İnönü imgesi üzerinde durularak dönem algılaması sorgulanacaktır. Bu algılamada iki lider, Tek Parti Dönemi olarak adlandırılan bütün bir süreçle mi özdeşleşmiştir? Yoksa ayrı bir “iki dönem/iki lider”den bahsetmek mümkün müdür? Sorularına da yanıt aranacak, böylece tez dönemin, liderlerin, konjonktürün, sorun ve çözümlerin farklılığı ve benzerliği üzerinden genel kurgusunu oluşturacaktır. Bu irdelemenin en rahat yapılabileceği alan, resmi tarihten sıyrılan (belki dışlanan) kişisel belleklerdir. Bu anlamda tezin ana kaynağı hatıratlardır. Bu noktada hatıratların tarih yazımındaki tek kaynak olarak kullanılmasının sakıncalarını da göz önünde bulundurarak; ele alınan süreçte yaşananların hatıratlar vasıtasıyla nasıl farklı değerlendirilebileceğinin koşulları ortaya konacaktır. Turkish Republic established in 1923 is stil a young country. That’s probably the reason why late/recent history studies are restricted. However, Single Party Period (RRP) is a leading one in most commonly studied thesis subjects. This is because RRP was in the situation of power over a crucial and a controversial period of Turkish history. The years of 1923 -1946 is a period during which all the key issues are debated, formed, and current issues get harder by pragmatic solutions despite the ideal of being contemporary. As this period is discussed, it’s unlikely to ignore Mustafa Kemal Atatürk and İsmet İnönü. One being savior of Turks as “a one man” and the other is the maintainer of revolutions as “a second man”. As a matter of course RRP is identified with these two names and the revolutions as well. It is not possible to dissociate these three constituents that is to say RRP, Mustafa Kemal Atatürk ve İsmet İnönü. Our study, considering the choronology, deals this three components with key issues of the Republic. Besides, by laying stress on the image of Atatürk and İnönü this research interrogates perception of period. In this conception, either are the two leaders identified with the whole time course called as the “Single Party Period” or is it possible to mention independant two periods/ two leaders. Accordingly, the responses to these questions are sought as well, thus our study builts its ficton through the differences and the similarities of period, leaders, concerns and solutions. The most available field, for such a thorough examination, is the indivudual memory which is excluded from official history. In this sense the main source of the thesis is memoirs. At this point, considering inconveniences in usage of memoirs as only source in historiography, the circumstances will be put forward under which experiences can be evaluated differently by means of memoir in the period.
