İslam tarihinin ilk dönemlerinden bugüne kadar özellikle mimari alanda oldukça fazla eser ortaya konmuştur. Bu eserlerin içinde camiler, camilerde ise mihrab büyük bir öneme sahiptir. Başlangıçta basit bir nişten ibaret olan mihrablar zamanla İslam mimarisinin en çok dikkat çeken elemanı haline gelmiştir. Özellikle Osmanlı dönemi camilerine bakıldığında mihrabın herhangi bir cami elemanı olmanın dışında simgesel bir yapıya büründüğü görülür. Çok geniş bir dönemi kapsayan İslam sanatı tarihi boyunca her kültür kendine özgü mihrab örnekleri ortaya koymuştur. Bu mihrabların bazıları ise süslemeleriyle bakanları hayrete düşürmektedir.Camiye girildiğinde tam karşıda duran mihraba bakmak elbette ki kaçınılmazdır. İşte dikkatleri ilk anda üzerine toplayan mihrab pek çok tarzda tezyin edilmiştir. Mihrab süsleme öğesi olarak birçok yöntem kullanılmakla birlikte ‘yazı’ bu öğelerin içinde önemli bir yere sahiptir. Mihrab süslemesinde kullanılan bu yazıların görselliği kadar manaları da önemlidir. Bu noktadan yola çıkarak çok sayıda mihrab incelenmiş ve kullanılan yazı örnekleri tespit edilip manaları çözümlenmeye çalışılmıştır.Mihrablarda bulunan yazı örneklerinin büyük çoğunluğunu Kur’an ayetleri oluşturur. Bunun yanında dini literatürde yaygın olan bazı kelime gruplarına da rastlanmıştır. Kullanılan ayetlerin önemli bir kısmı namazdan bahseder. Bazıları ise doğrudan namazdan bahsetmemekle birlikte hadisler aracılığı ile namazla arasındaki bağlantı ortaya konmuştur. Ayrıca mescitleri konu edinen ayetler mihrablarda mevcuttur. İçinde ‘mihrab’ kelimesi geçen bazı ayetlerde mihrablara yazılmıştır.Çalışmamızda mihrablarda görülen yazıların kullanım şekilleri ve yapıda bulundukları yer ayrı bir bölümde gösterilmiştir. Sonuç olarak ise mihrablarda kullanılan yazıların büyük çoğunluğunun rastgele seçilmeyip belli bir mana çerçevesinde yazıldığı kanaatine ulaşılmıştır. A lot of work of art have been brought up, especially in the field of architecture, since the early days of Islamic History. Mosques have a great importance among these works of art, and the mihrab has a great importance in these mosques. Originally, the mihrab which was a simple niche at the beginnig has become the most striking element of Islamic architecture in time. Especially when the mosques of the Ottoman period are looked into, it is seen that mihrabs are set into a symbol of mosques apart from being an any element of mosque. Every culture has revealed its own mihrab carrying its culturel espects throughout the history of Islamic Art which covers a very long period. Some of these mihrabs astonish people with their decorations at first sight.In the entrance of a mosque you come across the mihrab. The mihrab which attract all the attention at first sight is naturally decorated in many different styles. Many methods are used as a decorative element of mihrab having ‘the inscription’ as an important item. Both the visual of these inscriptions and the meaning of these writings are important. So a great number of mihrab was examined and the writing samples which were identified and their meanings were analyzed.The majority of mihrab incriptions consist of Quran verses. In addition, some of the word groups that are common in religion literature were found. An important part of these verses mentions prayer. Some of these don’t directly mention prayer, but they reveal connection with prayer by means of the hadith. The verses having the theme of mosques already exist in mihrabs. Some verses including the word ‘mihrab’ were also written on the mihrabs.In this study, usage of the mihrab inscriptions and their location in the structure were shown in another section. To conclude, the vast majority of the inscriptions used in the mihrabs were not chosen randomly, but they were written within the framework of a specific meaning.
