Globalleşen dünyada, kalkınmanın ve yeni kazanç kapılarının denenmesi kaçınılmaz olmuştur. Son zamanlarda turizm, kalkınmaya hız verici ve tamamlayıcı tesirleri açısından, bölgelerarası dengesizliklerin giderilmesinde bir araç olma niteliğini kazanmıştır. Bu aşamada turizm; tarım sektöründe sanayileşmeyi sağlayamayan, buna karşılık zengin bir turizm potansiyeline sahip bölgelerde önemli bir sektör haline gelmiştir.Bu çalışmanın amacı; genelde sağlık turizmin kalkınma aşamasındaki rolünü incelemek, özelde ise Isparta ilinin medikal sağlık turizm potansiyellerini ortaya koyarak, bu potansiyellerin Isparta ilinin gelişmesinde kullanılabilir bir faktör olup-olamayacağını göstermeye çalışmaktır. Ayrıca bu potansiyellerden daha fazla faydalanılması için neler yapılması gerektiğini ortaya koyabilmektir. Bu amaç doğrultusunda Isparta ili özel hastanelere gelen gurbetçilere ve turistlere anket çalışması uygulanmıştır. Bunun yanında işletmeciler ve bölgedeki doktorlar ile yüz yüze ve derinlemesine görüşmeler yapılmıştır. Bu uygulamalar ile birlikte sağlık turizmi ve turizminin bölge ekonomisine katkısı tespit edilmeye çalışılmıştır.Sonuç olarak medikal sağlık turizminin, Isparta ilinin ekonomik olarak kalkınmasında tek etkili sektör olmasa da, turizmin sağlıkla ilişkilendirilip çarpan etkisi yaratıp bölgelerarası dengesizliğin giderilmesinde önemli bir rol oynadığı ispat edilmiştir. In a globalizing world, development and testing of new revenue doors has become inevitable. Lately, tourism has become an agent in resolving the interregional imbalances thanks to its accelerating and complementary effects to the development. At this stage, tourism has proved to be a pivotal sector in regions where industrialization can’t be realized in the agricultural sector but instead an affluent tourism potential exists.The purpose of this study is to investigate the role of health tourism at the stage of development in general and to put forth the potentials of medical health tourism of the province of Isparta and to show whether these potentials are factors that might be used in the development of Isparta. Additionally, the purpose here is also to suggest the actions to be taken for taking advantage of these potentials. In accordance with this purpose, a poll was conducted on the expatriates and tourist coming to private hospitals in Isparta. Besides, face to face and depth interviews were made with the operators and doctors in the region. With these applications, the contribution of the health tourism in Isparta to the regional economy was tried to be determined.As a result, even though the medical health tourism is not the only influential sector in the economic development of Isparta, it is proved that when tourism is associated with health and a multiplier effect is created, health tourism plays an important role in resolving the interregional imbalances.
