Türkiye, kadın istihdamı ve toplumsal cinsiyet eşitsizliği konusunda dünya ve bölge ülkeleri arasında son sıralarda yer almaktadır. Kadınların istihdama katılımı hem kakınma programları açısından, hem de Türkiye'nin imzaladığı CEDAW gibi uluslararası anlaşmaların devlete yüklediği toplumsal cinsiyet eşitliğini sağlama hedefine ulaşma bakımından büyük önem taşımaktadır. Bu bağlamda kadın girişimciliği kadın istihdamının önemli bir boyutunu oluşturmaktadır.Bu çalışmanın konusu kadın girişimcilerin güçlenme bakımından toplumsal cinsiyet analizinin yapılmasıdır. Çalışma kapsamında Batı Akdeniz Bölgesinde, Antalya, Burdur ve Isparta örneklerinde başarılı kadın girişimcilerin özellikleri, girişimcilik süreçleri, toplumsal cinsiyetin kadın girişimciliği ve kadının güçlenmesine olan etkileri değerlendirilmiştir. 2014 yılında tamamlanan alan çalışmasında her kentten 10'ar olmak üzere toplamda 30 kadın girişimciyle derinlemesine görüşmeler yapılmış, veriler kategorik içerik analizi tekniğiyle analiz edilmiştir.Başarılı kadın girişimciler, girişimciliğe başlama süreçlerinde daha çok toplumsal cinsiyet temelli sorunlar yaşamaktadır. Girişimcilik kadının bireysel anlamda, ekonomik ve toplum içinde güçlenmesini sağlamakta, ancak özel alanda istenen dönüşümü sağlama konusunda zayıf kalmaktadır. Kadının başarılı bir girişimci olması patriyarkal tahakkümü aşındırsa da, tamamen yok edememektedir. Sonuç olarak kadınların güçlenmesi ve toplumsal cinsiyet eşitliğinin sağlanabilmesi için, kadın girişimciliğiyle ilgili olarak yapılan proje ve çalışmaların toplumsal cinsiyet bakış açısıyla, kadınların özgün konumlarınn dikkate alınarak, hazırlanması gereklidir. Turkey is placed at the bottom of the lists in terms of women's employment and gender inequality among the regional countries and in the world. Women's employment is crucially important for development programmes. It also holds key for meeting the goal to fulfill Turkey's liability created by CEDAW and such international treaties in terms of gender equality. In this context women entrepreneurship constitutes a significant dimension of women's employment.The aim of this study is to analyze women entrepreneurs' gender relations in the context of empowerment. Within the scope of the study, characteristics and entrepreneurial processes of the successful women entrepreneurs and the effects of gender on women entrepreneurship and women's empowerment have been assessed over the sample of Antalya, Burdur and Isparta, the cities located in West Meditarrenean Region. Field survey was carried out in 2014. During the field study 10 successful women entrepreneurs in each city and 30 in total were interviewed. The gathered data was analyzed with the technique of categorical data analysis.Successful women entrepreneurs experience problems mostly stemmed from gender at the beginning of entrepreneurial process. Entrepreneurship enables individual, economic and social empowerment but it falls down on desired transformation in private sphere. Patriarchial domination is worn down but never wiped out by the fact that women's becoming a successful entrepreneur. As a result the projects and programmes done to empower women and enable gender equality should be prepared with the women perspective and should consider women's specific positions.
