Roman yüzyıllar boyunca insanlığın dış dünyasıyla iç dünyası arasında sentezlenmiş edebi türlerin kendinde birleştiği geniş tahkiye metodudur. Dünyada genel kabul görmüş bu tür, ifade açısından her milletin kendi edebi geçmişiyle bütünleşip orijinal bir hal almıştır. Zamanla her millet kendine özgü bir üslup geliştirmiştir.Arap dünyası da roman türü ile karşılaştıktan sonra kendinde bulunan ve tarihi edebi zenginliğinden gelen miras ile bu türü yoğurmuştur. Daha sonra bu yeni edebi türü, neredeyse kendine özgü bir tür olarak insanlığın faydasına sunmuştur. Hiç şüphesiz bunun zirvesinde olan şahsiyetler arasında Necib Mahfuz'da yerini almıştır.Ancak Necib Mahfuz'un kendilerinden istifade ettiği Abbas el-Akkad, Taha Hüseyin, Tevfik el-Hakim, Selame Musa vs. nice edebiyatçıları da unutmamak gerekir.Üzerinde çalışma yapılan Abesu'l-Akdar adlı roman; yazarın ilk defa kaleme alıp yayınladığı eserdir. Bu roman kendisinin ilk tarihi romanıdır. Dolayısıyla Mahfuz'un bu romanı, iki ilki kendinde toplayan bir eser özelliğine haizdir. Kaleme aldığı pekçok eserde toplumu bilinçlendiren Mahfuz, bu eserinde halkı kendinden birisinin yönetmesi hususunda bilinçlendirmiştir.Yapılan bu çalışmada öncelikle Necib Mahfuz'un yazmış olduğu ilk romanının tanıtılması hedeflendi. Yazarın üç tarihsel romanı vardır. Bu çalışmamızın, ilk olması münasebetiyle bu tür üzerinde yapılacak çalışmalara ışık tutmasını ümit ettik.Bu çalışma bir giriş iki bölümden oluşmaktadır. Giriş bölümünde; Mısır'ın eski ve yeni tarihi ele alındı. Birinci bölümde; dünya edebiyatında özellikle Arap edebiyatında roman ve Mahfuz'un hayatı kısaca anlatıldı. Fiction / novel is a method of narrative which unites literary genres synthesised between mankind's outer and inner world in itsef over centuries. This universally recognised genre has became unique from the viewpoint of expression integrated with in the viewpoint of every nation's own literal history. Eventually, every nation has developed a distinctive style in process of time.After discovering fiction genre Arab world too has remoulded what it has which comes from its own historical literal heritage with this genre. Later, they have presented this new literal genre as almost one of a kind for the benefit of humanity.Without doubt, seeing Necib Mahfuz as a figure at the top of this would not be wrong. However, one should not forget many other literarians whom Necip Mahfuz has benefitted from such as Abbas el-Akkad, Taha Hüseyin, Tevfik el-Hakim, Selame Musa, etc.The novel titled Abesu'l-Akdar which studied on; is the very first piece has been written and published by the author. It has the characteristic of two first work for being the very first piece as well as very first historical novel written by the author. Mahfuz has been raised awareness in this work too in regard the public to conduct themselves by their inner self as he raised awareness in the community through his many many written works.This study aims to introduce Necib Mahfuz's first novel which he has written.Moreover, it is hoped that it will shed a light to the future studies on which the author has written in this genre in the relation of being the first work among his historical novels.This study consists of an introduction and two chapters. On the intoduction, it examines Eigypt's old and new history. First chapter explains fiction/novel in world literature, specifically fiction in Arab literature and the life of Mahfuz briefly.Second chapter examines the first novel titled Abesu'l-Akdar which has written by Necib Mahfuz in terms of its structure and content.
