1. Dünya Savaşından sonra imzalanan Mondros Ateşkes Antlaşması (30 Ekim 1918) ile galip devletler Anadolu'yu işgale başlamışlardır. Türk Milleti de işgalcilere karşı vatanı savunmak, istiklallerini yitirmemek için savaşmak zorunda kalmıştır.İtalyanlar Güney Batı Anadolu topraklarına asker çıkarmaya başlamışlar ve 28 Haziran 1919'da Burdur'u resmen işgal etmişlerdir. Burdur idarecilerin duyarsızlığı, İtalyanların işgal politikaları gibi sebeplerden dolayı İtalyan işgali karşısında başlangıçta yeterli tepkiyi gösterememiştir. Fakat daha sonra kurulan cemiyetlerle birlikte Milli Mücadeleye desteğini artırmış, işgalleri protesto etmiş, maddi destek sağlamış, gönüllü askerler göndermiştir.Milli Mücadele devam ederken cephede düşman ile savaşmanın dışında cephe gerisinde halk hayatını idame ettirmeye çalışmıştır. Bir yanda düşmanla mücadele edilirken diğer taraftan da yokluk ile mücadele edilmiştir. Burdur'da 1914 yılında meydana gelen depremin halk üzerinde oluşturduğu sosyal çöküntü ve 1915-1916 yıllarında çekirge istilasının ürünler üzerinde oluşturduğu tahribat yöre halkını sosyal ve ekonomik sefaletin içerisine çekmiştir. Yaşanan bu olumsuzluklara ek olarak mevcut siyasal sistemdeki otorite boşluğunda ortaya çıkan çetelerin işgal kuvvetlerinin desteğini alarak halk üzerinde kurduğu baskı ve şiddet toplumu canından bezdirmiştir. Burdur halkı, yaşadığı bütün bu olumsuzluklara rağmen Milli Mücadele'ye topyekûn destek sağlamış, bir yandan da bu sıkıntılı dönemde hayatın olağan akışını devam ettirmeye çalışmıştır.Milli Mücadele Döneminde bütün vilayetler coğrafi konumlarına, askeri, siyasi ve ekonomik durumlarına göre üzerlerine düşen vazifeyi fazlası ile yerine getirmişlerdir. Burdur'un Milli Mücadele Döneminde sosyal, siyasi ve askeri durumunu izah ederek Burdur'un Milli Mücadele'ye katkılarının neler olduğunu ortaya koymaya çalıştık. Yapmış olduğumuz çalışmanın Milli Mücadele Tarihi'nin aydınlatılmasına katkılar sağlamasını diliyoruz. After World War I, Armistice Treaty of Moudros was signed and the victorious states began the occupation of Anatolia. Turkish Nation was forced to fight against invaders to defend the homeland and not to lose their independence.Italians began to land troops on the Southwestern Anatolia, and they officially occupied Burdur on June 28, 1919. Insensitivity of Burdur administrators initially did not show adequate response against the Italian occupation because of the reasons, such as Italian occupation policy. But the city increased its support for the National Campaign along with the communities established later, protested the occupation, provided financial support and sent volunteer soldiers. While the National Struggle continues, except to fight with the enemy on the battlefield people attempted to maintain their public life behind the front line.On the one hand while fighting the enemy, on the other hand it has been struggling with the dearth.The social depression formed over the people by the earthquake that occured in 1914, Burdur and invasion of locusts in 1915-1916 that create havoc on crops, has attracted local people into the social and economic micery.In addition to this experienced difficulties, gangs' oppresion and violence founded on the people which occured with the support of the occupation forces in the current political system's authority gap, has been hazed the community. Despite all this experienced difficulties, Burdur people has provided support to National Struggle altogether; on the other hand, in this hard times they tried to maintain the ordinary course of life. Burdur people provided support for the National Campaign altogether in spite of all the negativity. Besides, they tried to maintain the normal flow of life in this troubled period. All provinces fulfilled their duties according to their geographical locations, military, political and economic conditions during National Campaign Period. We tried to reveal what contributions Burdur did to the National Campaign by explaining the social, political and military situation of Burdur during National Campaign Period. We hope that the work we have done would provide contributions to the clarification of the History of National Campaign.
