Sağlık çalışanlarına yönelik şiddetin her geçen gün arttığı bilinmektedir. Sağlık çalışanlarına karşı uygulanan şiddet genellikle hasta ve hasta yakınları tarafından yapılmakta olup; hakaret, tehdit, yaralama ve hatta ölümle sonuçlanmaktadır. Sağlık personelinin saldırıya uğrayacağı düşüncesiyle hizmet vermeye çalışması toplumun sağlığını ve refahını olumsuz olarak etkilemektedir. Böyle bir ortamda çalışan sağlık personeli hem ruhsal hem de bedensel olarak yıpranmaktadır. Bu çalışma Akdeniz Üniversitesi Hastanesi'ndeki sağlık çalışanlarına yönelik sözel ve fiziksel şiddet sıklığının ve sağlık çalışanlarına yönelik şiddet algısının incelenmesi amacı ile yapılmıştır. Sağlık çalışanlarına yönelik şiddetin nedenleri, neden olan faktörlerin belirlenmesi sağlık çalışanlarının bu konudaki görüşlerinin incelenmesi tasarlanmıştır. Çalışma 4 Şubat-7 Mayıs 2013 tarihleri arasında Akdeniz Üniversitesi Hastanesi'nde gerçekleştirilmiştir. Araştırma evreni 1500 sağlık çalışanından oluşmaktadır. Araştırmaya katılmayı kabul eden 580 sağlık çalışanı dahil edilmiştir. Araştırmanın hedef kitlesini ameliyathane, servis ve polikliniklerde görev yapan öğretim üyesi, hekim, asistan hekim ve hemşireler oluşturmaktadır. Veri toplama aracı olarak tasarlanan anket formunda demografik özellikler, sağlık çalışanlarına yönelik sözel ve fiziksel şiddet sıklığı ile ilgili ifadeler ve sağlık çalışanlarına yönelik sözel ve fiziksel şiddet algısına yönelik 30 adet ifade yer almaktadır. Çalışmada sağlık çalışanlarının şiddete maruz kalma sıklığı % 70, sözel şiddete maruz kalma sıklığı % 81, fiziksel şiddete maruz kalma sıklığı % 17 ve fiziksel şiddete tanık olma sıklığı ise % 55 olarak saptanmıştır. Sağlık çalışanlarına şiddet algısı ifadelerinde üç adet alt boyut olduğu tespit edilmiştir. Bu boyutlar algılanan şiddet boyutu, şiddete neden olan faktörler boyutu ve şiddetin önlenmesi için alınması gereken önlemler boyutu olarak adlandırılmıştır. Kadınlar iş yükünün artmasının, hasta beklentilerinin yükselmesinin, hükümetin ve Sağlık Bakanlığı uygulamalarının erkeklere oranla daha fazla şiddeti arttırdığı yönünde görüş bildirmişlerdir. Erkekler ise alınacak önlemlerin kadınlara göre sağlık çalışanlara yönelik şiddet algısının azaltılması konusunda daha etkin olacağını düşünmektedir. Çalışma yaşamında hekime ve sağlık çalışanına yönelik sözlü şiddete maruz kalma durumu ve sağlık çalışanlara yönelik şiddet algısı üzerinde etkili olduğu görülmektedir. Çalışma yaşamında hekime ve sağlık çalışanına yönelik sözlü şiddete tanık olma durumlarının şiddetin önlenmesi için alınması gereken önlemler ve şiddete neden olan faktörler üzerinde etkili oldukları tespit edilmiştir. It is well known that the violence against the health care personnel is residually increasing. The violence against the health care personnel is committed generally by the patients or patients' relatives and is concluded by insult, threatening, laceration or even death. Since the health care personnel serve by the thought of the possibility to be exposed to an assault, it affects the health and welfare of the public. The health care personnel who work under such conditions get both spiritually and physically exhausted. This study is made for the purpose of examining the perception of violence and the frequency of the verbal and physical assaults which the health care personnel in Akdeniz University Hospital are exposed to: It is designed to determine the reasons of the violence against the health care personnel, the factors of the violence and to examine the opinions of the health care personnel on this subject. The study is done in Akdeniz University Hospital between February 4th and May 7th 2013. The population of the study consists of 1500 health care personnel. 580 of them accepted to participate in this study. The target group of the study is the lecturers, physicians, physician assistants and nurses assigned to operating rooms, services and polyclinics. The questionnaire consists of demographical features, the statements on the frequency of the violence against the health care personnel and 30 statements aimed at the perception of verbal and physical violence against the health care personnel. As a result of the study, it is determined that the exposure frequency of the violence against the health care personnel is 70 %, the exposure frequency of verbal violence is 81%, exposure frequency of physical assault is 17 % and the witnessing frequency of the physical violence against the health care personnel is 55 %. It is confirmed that there are three spects of the statements of the violence perception against the health care personnel. These aspects are named as aspects of perceived violence, aspects of factors causing the violence, aspects of precautions to be taken for preventing the violence. It is observed that, the women think that the violence is caused by the increase on the work load, increase in the patient's expectations, the applications of the Government and Ministry of Health. And these factors have influence in the increase of the violence against the health care personnel. The men think that the to-be-taken precautions will be effective to decrease the violence perception against the health care personnel when compared to women. It is observed that the exposure to the verbal violence against the physicians and health care personnel at the working life is effective on the violence perception against the health care personnel. Also it is found that the witnessing to the verbal violence against the physician and health care personnel at the working life is effective on the necessary precautions to be taken for preventing the violence and the factors causing the violence.
