Bu çalışma haber sunumunda neden pasif (edilgen) cümle ve ifadeler kullanıldığını açıklar. Edilgen cümleler sansür kullanımı, ön yargı, yan anlam verme, manipülasyon uygulama için kullanılan bir yapı biçimidir. Bu yapının kullanımı yetenekli yazarlar gerektirir. Çünkü yazılarında bahsedilen konunun teması ve uyumu hakkında yanlış anlaşılmalara sebep olabilirler. Bu çalışma üç temel analiz üzerine yoğunlaşmıştır. Birincisi, bilgi analizinin yapısı hem manüel hem de doğal dil gelişim süreci standardında yürütüldü. İkincisi, Halliday' in sistematik yapısal dil bilimiydi (SFL) (1985). Üçüncü olarak, Fairclough'un sosyokültürel ve söylev değişikliğinin kritik söylev analizini(CDA) yaygın hale dönüştürmekti (2001). Dijk'in sosyozihinsel çalışmaları(1980), Wodak'ın tarihsel metodu (2001) bu çalışmanın bilgi kayıtları için yapılandırıldı. CDA mikro yapısal analizi hem manüel hem de üst düzey araştırma bulutu kullanılarak yürütüldü. Bu çalışmada kullanılan bilgi 4 farklı ulusal haber sunucusu tarafından yazılan 16 farklı denemelerden derlenmiştir. Bu denemeler iki farklı ulusal konuyu temsil eder ve Obama'nın cümleleri bu konularla ilgilidir. Bu çalışmadaki edebiyat taraması bu yöntemi tanımlar. Dilin sosyal bir fenomen olduğunu ve fonksiyonel dil teorisi gerektirdiğini açıklar. Bu yaklaşımın detaylı açıklaması da dahil edilmiştir. CDA çerçevesinin yaygın hale dönüştürülmesi farklı açılardan incelenerek savunulmuştur. Edilgen yapı CDA, fonksiyon ve yapı bakımından üç farkıl alanda açıklanmıştır. Haberler, bu çalışmada araştırılan bilgi edebiyat çatısı altında gözden geçirildi ve manipülasyon özellikleri, ön yargı, bilgi sansürü ve kavramsallaştırma açıklandı. Bu çalışmanın sonuçları çeşitlidir. Yazarlar için bu yapının kullanım tercihleri gerekli olsa da olmasa da edilgen yapının sistemi kolaylıkla tanımlanabilir. Bu tercihlerin kullanımı uyum bozukluğuna, şüpheye, ve anlam bakımından zor anlaşılmasına sebep olabilir. Haber konuşmalarının ideolojik olarak nasıl bağlanabileceği doğrulanmıştır ve edilgen yapı kullanımlarının kavramsallaştırma, bilgi sansürü, manipülasyon ve problemlere neden olabileceği açıklanmıştır. Bu sonuçlar hem okur hem de yazarlar için çeviri ve okuma yaparken daha dikkatli olmaları bakımından önemlidir. This study verifies the reasons behind 'choices' of passive voice in the news discourse. Passive voice is a stylistic device which sometimes may be used ideologically to conduct manipulation, bias, information censorship, and conceptualization over society. These 'choices' require skillful writer to avoid flaws. They can cause disorders for the coherence and thematic relations of the discourse of their writings. This study is based on three steps of analysis. First, the structural analysis of the data was conducted both manually and by using Stanford Natural Language Processor. Second, functional analysis conducting Halliday's Systemic Functional Linguistics (SFL) (1985). Third, mainstream frameworks of Critical Discourse Analysis (CDA) of Fairclough's sociocultural change and change in discourse (2001), Dijk's Sociocognitive studies (1980), and Wodak'a discourse-historical method (2001) (Cheng, 2013) are configured to suit the study's data register. CDA microstructure analysis was conducted both manually and by using HyperResearch cloud and AntConc software to form an independent corpus. The data used in this study is a set of 16 articles from four different international news providers. These articles are representations of two international issues; and metarepresentations of Obama's speeches concerning these issues. A review of the literature in this study describes this method. It explains that Language is a social phenomenon and requires Functional theory of linguistics, precisely SFL, to justify the use of this theory and approach. A detailed explanation of this approach is also included. A literature for CDA's mainstream frameworks were explained to justify the use of certain aspects of them in the study's framework. The passive voice was explained on the bases of three perspectives: that of Structure, Function, and CDA. News, being the register of the data investigated in this study, is re-viewed in the literature, and news characteristics of manipulation, bias, information censorship, and conceptualization were explained. This study's findings are diverse. Its framework easily identified whether the 'choices' of passive are a good call for the writers or not. How these 'choices' can cause less coherent, ambiguous, difficult, and/or personal discourses. It verified how news conventions can be invested ideologically, and, that certain passive voice uses can cause disorders and reflect manipulation, information censorship, and conceptualization. Its findings are important in a way that they can help both the writers and readers to be more aware of the discourse they are exchanging, and can help CDA and news analysts to conduct a solid justification of their analysis.
