Yurdumuzun farklı bölgelerinde zengin örnekleriyle karşımıza çıkan mezar taşları, üzerlerindeki yazı, süsleme ve başlıklarıyla tarih, edebiyat, sosyoloji ve sanat tarihi gibi pek çok alan için oldukça önemlidir. Nitekim mezar taşları, yapıldığı dönemin düşünce yapısını, dil ve ifade özelliklerini günümüze taşımaktadır. Türk mezar geleneğinde mezar taşları, mimari üslubuyla bir gelişme çizgisi izleyerek özellikle Osmanlılar zamanında çeşitli sanatların yansıdığı eserler olarak karşımıza çıkmıştır. Arşiv niteliğindeki bu mezar taşları sayesinde coğrafi isimler, müesseseler, meslek, sanat anlayışı, kişilerle sahip oldukları inanç, duygu, düşünce ve kültür gibi pek çok bilgiyi elde etmek mümkündür. Mezar taşlarında yer alan önemli unsurlardan biri de çoğunlukla baş taşlarına işlenmiş olan başlıklardır. Sosyal hayatın bir yansıması olan ve toplumsal sınıf için ayırt edici bir sembol olarak kullanılan bu başlıklar sayesinde ölen kişinin cinsiyeti ve sosyal statüsünü anlamak mümkündür. Böylesine zengin bilgiler sunan tarihi mezar taşlarından Osmanlı dönemine ait olanlarının ele alındığı bu tez çalışmasında, erkeklerin mezar taşı başlıklarına yer verilmiştir. Bu mezar taşlarında ne tür başlıkların kullanıldığı ve bu başlıkların genel itibariyle nerelerde, hangi dönemlerde ve hangi sosyal grup ya da meslek gruplarınca kullanıldığı tespit edilmeye çalışılmıştır. Yapılan bu çalışma ile mezar taşı başlıklarının biçim ve şeklinden o mezar taşının yapıldığı ya da kullanıldığı dönem ve mezar taşının ait olduğu kişinin kimliği ile ilgili bir takım ipuçlarına ulaşmak mümkün olacaktır. Ulaşılabilen kaynaklar doğrultusunda çalışmamızda yer verilen mezar taşı başlıkları 13.-20. yüzyılları içermekle beraber, çoğunluğu 18.-19. yüzyılları kapsamaktadır. Karşılaşılan başlık türleri ise sarık, tarikat başlıkları, kavuk, Yeniçeri başlıkları ve fes şeklindedir. Sarıklı başlıklar çapraz, düşey, yatay ve kafesî dilimli şeklinde, kavuklu başlıklar kallavî, mücevveze, kâtibî, örfî destarlı şeklinde gruplandırılırken, fes biçimli başlıklar da Azizî, Hamidî ve Mahmudî şeklinde gruplandırılmıştır. Bunlar arasında en çok sarıklı başlık görülmüştür. İkinci sırada kavuklu başlık yer alırken, daha sonra sırasıyla Azizî fes, Hamidiye fes ve Mahmudî fes şeklindeki başlık görülmüştür. Bu alanda yapılacak sonraki çalışmalara bir katkı sağlayacağını ümit ettiğimiz çalışmamızda ulaşabildiğimiz sınırlı sayıdaki bu örnekler dışında, incelenmeyi bekleyen çok sayıda mezar taşı olduğu unutulmamalıdır. Dolayısıyla bu alanda yapılacak olan her yeni çalışmanın burada ulaştığımız sonucu değiştirebileceği unutulmamalıdır. The tombstones which confront us in different regions of our country with rich examples are important for many fields such as history, literature, sociology, and art history with the writing on, decoration and titles on them. Indeed, grave stones convey the properties of the era's structure of thought, language and expression to the present. We see Grave stones in the Turkish tradition as reflected in various art works with architectural style by following its development through a line, especially in the time of the Ottomans. İt is possible to obtain much information such as geographical names, institutions, professions, art, with people that they have the belief, emotion, thought, and culture thanks to the archive of the tombstones. One of the important factors in tombstones is mostly titles which are processed into the head stone. it is possible to understand gender and the social status of the deceased thanks to these titles which are a reflection of social life and are used as a symbol for distinguishing for social class. In this thesis, from the tombstones offering such rich information, those belonging to the Ottoman era have been discussed and the headstones titles of the men have been examined. On these tombstones, It has been tried to be detected, what kind of headers are used and where these titles are used, in which periods are used and by which social groups or professional groups. With this study made by looking at the titles of them, it will be possible to reach a couple of clues on the identity of the person that belongs to the tombstone and or which period they were made and used the period. In line with available resources, the titles given in our study tombstone include 13th and 20th centuries and most of them also cover 18th and 19th centuries. Common header types are in the form of Fes, a turban, cult titles, kavuk, Janissary titles. While Titles turbans are classified in the form of diagonal, vertical, horizontal, kavuklu titles are classified in the form of and cage-slice-shaped, , mucevvez, clerk, in the form of customary destarli are grouped, the Fes-formatted titles are grouped in the form of Aziz and Hamid mahmoudi. Among these, there were the most heading turbans. While kavuklu title ranked second, then, respectively, there were the Saint fes, Fes and fes Mahmoudi Hamidiye-shaped. In our study, we hope, which will contribute to the Subsequent studies in this area, except these examples in limited number, it shouldn't be forgotten that there are a large number of tombstone awaiting review. Therefore, it should be noted that each new work that will be done in this area can change the results which we have reached here.
