Turizm sektörü, dinlenme, eğlenme, gezme, görme, gözlemleme, inceleme, araştırma, hoş vakit geçirme ve boş zamanları değerlendirme ile bütünleşmiş; teknik, ekonomik, sosyal ve kültürel içeriğe sahip, çevre unsurlarının tanıtılması ve çevre değerlerinin pazarlanması kadar korunması ve geliştirilmesinde de etkili; ülkelerin ekonomik, sosyal ve kültürel kalkınmalarına yardımcı olan ve bu değerlerin tanıtımı, pazarlanması ile birlikte sosyal ve kültürel etkileşimle dünya kültürüne ve barışına katkıda bulunan önemli bir hizmet sektördür. Günümüzde küresel bazda hayat standartlarının yükselmesi sonucu klasik turizm anlayışı da değişerek, sportif turizm, dağ turizmi, yayla turizm, ekoturizm, sağlık turizm, kongre turizm, doğa turizmi, kültürel turizm gibi amaca göre turizm çeşitleri ortaya çıkmıştır. Ekoturizm de bu yeni anlayış ve uygulamanın bir çeşidi olarak alternatif turizm türleri içinde yer almaktadır. Her ülke veya bölgede özellikle turizme konu olan doğal kaynakların kullanımı sınırlıdır. Bu kaynakların tükenmeden, kirlenmeden, bozulmadan kullanımı ve bu kullanımın sürekliliği ile turizm faaliyetleri sürdürülebilir. Bu sınırlılık da turizme konu kaynak kullanımında sürdürülebilirliği zorunlu hale getirmektedir. Bunun temel yollarından birisi doğal kaynakları klasik turizm ve diğer alternatif turizm çeşitlerine göre en az bozulma, kirletme veya tükenmeye yol açarak kullanan ekoturizmdir. Türkiye, çoğu ülkede bulunmayan coğrafi yapısı, iklim çeşitliliği, faunası, florası, dağları, nehirleri, gölleri, denizleri, doğal oluşumları, tarihi ve arkeolojik zenginliği, geleneği, göreneği, yaşantısı ile kendine özgü folklorik özellikleri ve sahip olduğu değişik yaşam ortamlarının varlığı ile gelişen ve çevreye saygılı bir turizm şekli olarak günümüzün ve geleceğin yeni turizm anlayışı olan ekoturizm aktivitelerinin uygulanması için çok önemli bir potansiyele sahiptir. Gölcük Gölü, piknik, eğlenme, dinlenme, orman gezisi, dağcılık, dağ yürüyüşü, kuş gözlemciliği, su sporları, jeoloji, vahşi yaşamı inceleme, bisiklet, balon ve yamaç paraşütçülüğü, tarım ve çiftlik turizmi gibi çok çeşitli aktivite olanakları ve çevresinde yer alan doğal korunan alanları ile önemli bir potansiyele sahiptir. İyi bir tanıtım, eğitim, organize ve ulusal ve yerel yönetimlerin başta altyapı olmak üzere destekleriyle ülke çapında hatta uluslararası düzeyde bir ekoturizm merkezi olabilir. The tourism industry, recreation, entertainment, sightseeing, see, observe, study, research, integrated with pleasant to spend time and leisure; technical, economic, social and cultural content owners, effective protection as the marketing of introducing environmental factors and environmental values and development; countries' economic, social and cultural development and to help the promotion of these values, with social and cultural interaction with the world of marketing is an important cultural and service sectors which contribute to peace. Today, on a global basis in the living standards of the increase as a result of classic tourism understanding of the changing, sports tourism, mountain tourism, mountain tourism, ecotourism, health tourism, conference tourism, nature tourism, it has emerged types of tourism according to the purpose, such as cultural tourism. Ecotourism at this as a kind of new understanding and application of alternative types of tourism are located. In each particular country or region it is limited to the use of natural resources that are the subject of tourism. The depletion of these resources from pollution, the use of distortion and tourism activities and continuity of this use is sustainable. These limitations also make it mandatory sustainability issues in tourism resources. One of the basic ways of natural resources compared with conventional tourism and other alternative forms of tourism minimal distortion, use, ecotourism, leading to pollution or depletion. Turkey, geographic structures exist in most countries, climate diversity, fauna, flora, mountains, rivers, lakes, seas, natural formations, historic and archaeological richness, tradition, custom, life with its unique folklore properties owned and developed by the presence of different habitats and for the implementation of an environmentally friendly form of tourism and ecotourism activities as of today, the new understanding of the future of tourism has a huge potential. Gölcük Lake, picnic, entertainment, recreation, forest excursions, climbing, hiking, bird watching, water sports, geology, wildlife investigation, bicycles, balloons and paragliding, agriculture and farm tourism as a wide range of activities and facilities located around natural protected areas and has an important potential. A good introduction, training, and support to be organized in an ecotourism center nationwide or even international level, mainly in infrastructure of national and local governments.
