Yoksulluk; insanlık tarihinin her aşamasında görülen, gelişmişlik düzeyine bakılmaksızın çoğu toplumda ortaya çıkan bir problemdir. Yoksulluk, toplumdan topluma farklılaşan ve karmaşık bir yapıya sahip olduğu için bu problemi çözerken öncelikle sebeplerini tespit etmek gerekmektedir. Yapılan bu çalışmada da Türkiye'de yoksulluğu etkileyen faktörleri belirlemek ve bu faktörlerin yoksulluğu açıklama düzeylerini belirleyerek yoksulluk sorununu tespit etmek amaçlanmıştır. Bunun için eşdeğer kişi başı gelir ve tüketim harcamasına göre göreli yoksulluk sınırı belirlenerek hane ve fert bazında yoksulluğun belirleyicileri ortaya konmuştur. Bu belirleyiciler ile Logit modeller kurularak ROC eğrileri çizilmiştir. Ayrıca, kişisel ve konutsal özelliklerin ele alındığı değişkenler de Logit modeller kurularak karşılaştırılmıştır. Bu kurguların her biri için ROC eğrileri çizilerek, eğri altında kalan alan değerleri yardımıyla en iyi modeli bulmak amaçlanmıştır. Sonuç olarak, yoksulluk gelir ve tüketim harcamasına göre iki farklı boyutta incelenmiş, yoksul olan ve olmayanları en iyi şekilde ayırt eden modelin tüketim harcamasına göre kurulan model olduğu görülmüştür. Hanehalkı reisinin yaşı, cinsiyeti, eğitim düzeyi, mesleği ve hanehalkı tipi yoksulluğu önemli düzeyde etkilemektedir. Konut özellikleri ile yoksulluk arasında da önemli bir ilişkili olduğu görülmüştür. Hanesel ve fertsel özellikler kıyaslandığında, konuta dair özelliklerin yoksulluğu daha iyi açıkladığı görülmüştür. Kırsal ve kentsel bölgeler için de benzer sonuçlar elde edilmiştir. Poverty, observed at every stage in the history of humanity, is a problem regardless of the level of development. Since poverty varies from society to society and has a complicated structure , it is necessary to identify the causes first when solving this problem. In this study, it was aimed to determine the factors affecting poverty in Turkey and to determine the level of explaining poverty of these factors and to determine the problem of poverty. For this, determining the relative poverty line according to equivalent per capita income and consumption expenditure, determining the determinants of poverty on the basis of household and individual. With these determinants, Logit models were established and ROC curves were plotted. In addition, Logit models were compared with the variables in which the personal and housing characteristics were discussed. For each of these fictions, ROC curves were plotted to find the best model with the help of field values under the curve. As a result, poverty is examined in two dimensions according to income and consumption expenditure, and it is seen that the best model distinguishing the poor and the non-poor is found on the consumption expenditure. The age, gender, education level, occupation of the household head and household type significantly affect poverty. Poverty has also been found to directly related to housing characteristics. Compared to the housing and the personality characteristics, the characteristics of the housing have been found to explain the poverty better. Similar results were obtained in rural and urban areas.
