Bu araştırma konusu, eski arkeolojik ve tarihî araştırmalarda önemli konular arasında yer aldığından dolayı tercih edilmiştir. Özellikle de araştırmacıların ele aldığı şeylerin çoğunun genellikle her çağın belirli yönlerinin incelenmesi ile sınırlı olması nedeniyle de tercih edilmiştir. Bu nedenle, Bronz Çağı'nda Mezopotamya'daki sanayi, ticaretin ve bu çağın ortaya koyduğu başarıların incelenmesini ele alması açısından bu konu önem arz etmektedir. Araştırma beş bölüme ayrılmıştır. Birinci bölümde, Mezopotamya'nın adlandırılması, eskiden ona verilen isimler, onu çevreleyen ülkeler arasındaki konumu ve bu konumunun ticari ve ekonomik açıdan önemi ele alınmıştır. Bu bölüm ayrıca Mezopotamya topografyasına doğal ortamın tezahürleri ve onu etkileyen koşullar bakımından kapsamlı bir genel bakış yapılmıştır. Bölümde, Dicle ve Fırat nehirleri ve bunların Mezopotamya'da ticaret ve taşımacılığın kolaylaştırılmasındaki önemlerinin yanı sıra komşu ülkeler açısından Irak'ın ticari konumu da ele alınmıştır. İkinci bölümde, Bronz Çağı tarihi ve bu çağın medeniyete katkıları ile bu çağın geçirdiği evreler ve Mezopotamya'da bu dönemde elde edilen en önemli bazı kazanımlar ele alınmıştır. Üçüncü bölümde, Mezopotamya'da ticaret ve ulaşım hareketlerini kolaylaştırmada büyük öneminden dolayı yollar ve güzergâhların yanı sıra nehir ve kara ulaşım araçlarının incelenmesi ile bütün bu kara ve nehir araçlarının kullanımının önemi ve bu araçların eski Iraklıların yaşamındaki önemi ele alındı. Dördüncü bölüme gelince; bu bölümde, özellikle Tunç Çağı Mezopotamya ticareti ve onun çevresinde bulunan ülkelerle olan ticari ilişkileri bu dönemde mevcut olan en önemli ticaret merkezlerini arkeolojik kalıntılara dayanarak ayrı ayrı açıklayarak ve ortaya koyarak ele almıştır. Son olarak beşinci bölümde ise, Mezopotamya'da Bronz Çağı'ndaki sanayiyi, toplumdaki önemini, meslekte uzmanlaşmanın ortaya çıkışını ve bu dönemde büyük ölçüde metalürjik endüstrilerin ortaya çıkışını araştırmaya ayrılmıştır. Arkeolojik kalıntılara dayanarak bu sanayilerin ayrı ayrı her birinin detaylı bir açıklaması yapıldı.Ayrıca bu bölüm, araştırmanın sonuçlarını ve bu araştırmayla ulaştığımız en önemli çıkarımları içermektedir. The scope of this study has been preferred as it is regarded one of the most significant issues in archaeological and historical researches and as it has been found that the researchers intend to restrict their researches with certain parts of each age. Thus, this study is of great significance as it investigates the industry, trade and the achievements that this age marked in Bronze Age in Mesopotamia. The study is involves five sections. The first section discusses how the word “Mesopotamia” was derived, its old names and its location regarding the countries surrounding it as well as the commercial and economic significance that this location offered. This section also involves the detailed overview of how natural surroundings affected Mesopotamia topography as well as of the conditions affecting the natural surroundings. Tigris and Euphrates Rivers, their significance in enhancing the trade and transportation in Mesopotamia and commercial position of Iraq with regards to neighbouring countries are also cited in this section. In the second section, The Bronze Age and its contributions to the civilization as well as the phases this age went through and the most crucial acquisitions that Mesopotamia marked in this age are covered. The third section investigates the roads and destinations as well as the river navigation mediums and land transport vehicles as they exclusively facilitate the trade and transportation in Mesopotamia. The importance of effective use of these roads and their influence in Iraqis daily lives are cited in this section. As for the fourth section, the trade in Bronze Age in Mesopotamia and commercial activities of neighbouring countries are separately described based on the archaeological findings. The final section of the study discusses the industry in Bronze Age in Mesopotamia, its significance in the community, how expertise in a profession and metallurgical industries emerged. Each industry is described based on the archaeological remnants. This section also involves the outcomes of the study and the theories that we have obtained thanks to this study.
