Ekonomik coğrafya teorilerinden Thünen’in toprak kullanımı ve rantlar teorisi ile mekân kavramı geliştirilen teorilere dâhil edilmiştir. İktisadi faaliyetlerin ortaya çıkmasında yani firmaların ve işçilerin kararını etkilemede mekân önemli konuma sahip olmaktadır. Çalışmada ekonomik coğrafya teorileri ile yeni ekonomik coğrafya teorilerinin temel yapısı incelenmektedir. Çalışmadaki temel amaç ekonomik coğrafya ve yeni ekonomik coğrafyada geliştirilen teorilerdeki benzerlik ve farklılıkları karşılaştırmalar aracılığıyla tespit etmektir. Çalışmanın sonucunda ise ekonomik coğrafya ve yeni ekonomik coğrafya arasında varsayımsal, yöntemsel, kavramsal ve içerik açısından benzerlik ve farklılıklar tespit edilmiştir. Ekonomik coğrafya teorileri ve yeni ekonomik coğrafya teorileri arasında üretim faktörlerinin homojenliği ve heterojenliği, emeğin mobilitesi ve kümelenmeye ve yayılmaya sebebiyet veren merkezkaç kuvvetler ve merkezcil kuvvetler açısından benzerlikler ve farklılıklar tespit edilmiştir. Ayrıca, yeni ekonomik coğrafya teorilerinden Krugman (1991) ve Fujita ve Krugman (1995) ile Thünen’in toprak kullanımı ve rantlar teorisinde aysberg etkisinin olduğu tespit edilmiştir. Ranta bakış açısında ise Krugman (1991) ile Thünen (1966) arasında farklılıklar tespit edilmiştir. Ekonomik coğrafya teorilerinde dikey bağlantı yok iken yeni ekonomik coğrafya teorilerinden Venables (1996a)’da ise dikey bağlantının bulunduğu tespit edilmiştir. Kullanılan denge modelleri açısından ekonomik coğrafya ve yeni ekonomik coğrafya teorileri arasında farklılıklar tespit edilmiştir. Tarım ürünlerinin taşıma maliyeti açısından incelenmesinde ise Krugman (1991) ve Thünen (1966) arasında farklılıklar tespit edilmiştir. The location has been involved in the developed theories through land use and rent theory of Thünen which is the theory of economic geography. The Location has an important role in the existing of economic activities and it is affecting the decision of firms and workers. Basic structure of economic geography theories and new economic geography theories have been examined in the study. Similarities and differences in theories which are developed in economic geography and new economic geography have been determined by comparisons which are the main objective of the study. Between economic geography and new economic geography have been determined similarities and differences in terms of hypothetical, methodological, conceptual and content. In terms of homogeneity and heterogeneity of production factors, the mobility of labor and centripetal and centrifugal forces which are the reason of the agglomeration and dispersion have been determined similarities and differences between economic geography and new economic geography theories. Also, iceberg effect has been determined in land use and rent theory of Thünen and Krugman (1991) and Fujita and Krugman (1995) which are new economic geography. Between Thünen (1966) and Krugman (1991) have been determined differences perspective of rent. It has been determined that while the theories of economic geography theories do not have vertical linkage, Venables (1996a) which is new economic geography theory have vertical linkage. Between economic geography theories and new economic geography theories have been determined differences in terms of equilibrium models which is used. Between Krugman (1991) and Thünen (1966) have been determined differences in terms of transportation cost of agriculture goods.
