Bu çalışmanın amacı küreselleşme sürecinde aynılaşmış kentlerden biri olmak istemeyen kentlerin, sürdürülebilirliğini sağlama hedefi ile ortaya çıkan Cittaslow (Sakin Şehir) Birliğinin önemini ortaya koyarak, birliğe üye kentlerden biri olan Yalvaç ilçesinin ekonomik, sosyo-kültürel ve çevresel durumunu incelemektir. Bu çalışma Yalvaç'ın Sakin Şehir birliğine üye olduğu 2012 yılından bu yana yapılmış ilk tez çalışması olması nedeniyle ayrı bir öneme sahiptir. Çalışma kapsamında ilgili literatürün taraması yapılarak, Cittaslow hareketinin ortaya çıkış nedenleri, gelişimi ve üye kentlerin sağlaması gereken kriterlerden bahsedilmiştir. Ayrıca çalışmada Cittaslow birliğine ülkemizden üye olan kentlerin genel değerlendirilmesi yapılmıştır. Araştırmada literatürden elde edilen 51 soru ve ifadeden oluşan anket formu ile Yalvaç'ta yaşayan kişilerin Sakin Şehir algıları ve destekleme ölçüleri belirlenmiştir. Anket 2018 yılında ilçede yaşayan farklı demografik özelliklere sahip 447 kişi ile yüz yüze görüşülerek yapılmıştır. Verilerin analizinde tanımlayıcı istatistiklerle birlikte faktör ve regresyon analizleri kullanılmıştır. Uygulama sonucunda Yalvaç halkının Sakin Şehir kavramını bilme düzeyleri ile kentlerinin Sakin Şehir unvanına sahip olduğunu bilme düzeylerinin yüksek olduğu sonucuna ulaşılmıştır. Ayrıca Sakin Şehir olmanın Yalvaç'ın çevresel ve kültürel değerlerini koruma noktasında katkı sağladığı ancak ekonomi ve refah bakımından katkısının daha düşük olduğu anlaşılmıştır. The aim of this study is to demonstrate the importance of the Cittaslow Association, which emerged with the goal of ensuring the sustainability of cities that did not want to be one of the cities that had become identical in the globalization process, examine the economic, socio-cultural and environmental conditions of the Yalvac district, one of the member cities of the Union. This study has a separate prescription because it is the first thesis work that has been done since 2012 when Yalvaç is a member of the Cittaslow Union. Within the scope of the study, the related literatüre was searched and the reasons for the Cittaslow movement, its development and the criteria required for the member cities were mentioned. In addition, a general evaluation of the cities belonging to our country was made in the Cittaslow association. In the survey, the questionnaire form composed of 51 questions and expressions obtained from the literature and the Cittaslow perceptions and supporting measures of the people living in Yalvac have been determined. The survey was conducted in face-to-face interview with 447 people with different demographic characteristics living in the district in 2018. In the analysis of the data, factor and regression analyzes were used together with descriptive statistics. As a result of the application, Yalvaç people reached the level of knowing the concept of the Cittaslow and the level of knowing that the cities had the name of the Cittaslow. It has also been understood that being a cittaslow contributes to the preservation of the environmental and cultural values of Yalvaç but its contribution to economy and prosperity is lower.
