Ondokuzuncu yüzyıl sonu ile yirminci yüzyıl başlarını kapsayan ve "çağ dönümü" olarak adlandırılan süreçte; Arts and Crafts hareketi ile temelleri atılan çağdaş grafik tasarım anlayışı, modern sanat hareketleri ile şekillenmiş, Bauhaus'ta temel prensipleri oluşmuş ve evrensel bir nitelik kazanmıştır. Türkiye'de ise Cumhuriyet'in kuruluşu ve ardından yapılan reformlarla gelişmeye başlayan grafik sanatların günümüzdeki koşulları, 70'li yıllarda gerçekleşen ekonomik ve teknolojik yapılanmalarla oluşmuştur. 1970 ve sonrası dönemde grafik sanatı kavramı, yerini grafik tasarıma bırakmış ve çağdaş anlamda grafik tasarım ürünleri verilmeye başlanmıştır. 80'li yıllarda Türkiye, uygulanan neo-liberal politikalar, ülkenin uluslararası sermayeye açılması ve dünyayla ticari ilişkilerin gelişmesi gibi etkenler ile pazarlama iletişimi sektöründe kaydedilen ilerleme ve teknolojik gelişmelerle dönüşüm yaşamıştır. Bu gelişmelerin yanı sıra, dünya ile eşzamanlılığın ancak 90'lı yıllarla birlikte sağlandığı Türkiye'de, çağdaş grafik tasarımın bu günkü durumuna ulaşması, grafik tasarım üretiminde dünyayla eşzamanlılığın önemine işaret eden bazı grafik tasarımcıların çaba ve alan adına yaptıkları çalışmalarla mümkün olmuştur. Bu çerçevede; çağdaş grafik tasarım üretiminin alt yapısını oluşturan teknoloji, eğitim, etkinlikler, kuruluş ve mesleki örgütler gibi etkenler ile araştırmanın odak noktasını oluşturan grafik tasarımcılar Yurdaer Altıntaş, Sadık Karamustafa ve Bülent Erkmen'in yenilikçi grafik tasarım üretimleri ve tasarımcı profilleri incelenmeye çalışılmıştır. In the process between the end of the nineteenth century and the beginning of twentieth century which is called process of acres, the understanding of contemporary graphic design foundations which was laid by the Arts and Crafts movement, has been shaped with the modern art movements, its basic principles has been formed in Bauhaus and has gained an universal character. In Turkey, the graphic arts which began to develop with the establishment of the Republic, and subsequent reforms in our day's conditions, has been formed In the 70s with the actual economic and technological structures. The concept of graphic art in the period 1970 and after this period, left its place to the graphic design and in the modern sense began providing graphic design products. In the 80s, the implementation of neo-liberal policies, the opening of the country to international capital, the development of commercial relations with the world and the progress experienced in the marketing communications sector were reflected in the graphic design field. In addition to these developments, in 90s the world and simultaneity are barely supplied togather in Turkey, contemporary graphic design to reach its current state in the production of graphic design, has been possible by the efforts and the works by the name of field of some graphic designers who are pointing to the importance of synchronicity with the world. İn this context, by technology, education, events, organizations, professional associations and such as factors that constitue the infrastructure of contemporary graphic design production and by the graphic designers who are a focal point of research: Yurdaer Altintas's, Sadik Karamustafa's and Bulent Erkmen's innovative graphic design production and designer profiles have been studied.
