Çağdaş halk hekimliği uygulamasına göre birey ruhsal ve bedensel bir bütün olarak ele alınırken, bireyin içinde bulunduğu aile, iş ve sosyal ortam da incelenmelidir. Benlik saygısı hem olumsuz benlik kavramına ikincil gelişebilecek ruh sağlığı sorunları, hem de sağlıklı benlik kavramı gelişimiyle elde edilecek kazanımlar bakımımdan önemle üzerinde durulması gereken bir konudur. Benlik saygısı önce psikoloji alanında daha sonra tıp ve sosyal bilimlerde, özellikle akademik başarı ile ilişkisinin gündeme gelmesiyle de toplum içinde yaygın olarak konuşulup tartışılan bir kavram haline gelmiştir. Bu çalışmada, Isparta il merkezindeki özel okulların 9. sınıfına devam eden öğrencilerin benlik kavramlarının ebeveyn tutumu ve bazı değişkenlerle ilişkisinin incelenmesi amaçlandı. Örneklem alınmadan evrenin tamamına gidilmesi planlandı. Gerekli izinler alındıktan sonra bahsedilen okullarda 239 öğrenciye (ulaşma oranı %80,2) okul idarelerinin uygun gördüğü zaman diliminde veri toplama formu uygulandı. Benlik kavramını ölçmek için PHÇÖKÖ, anne baba tutumlarını ölçmek için ABTÖ kullanıldı. İstatistiksel anlamlılık için sınır değer p<0,05 kabul edildi. PHÇÖKÖ toplam puan ve alt alanların tamamı anne baba tutumları ile ilişkili bulundu. Toplam puan, mutluluk doyum, kaygı ve popülarite alt alanlarında erkeklerin puan ortalaması kızlardan yüksek bulundu. Mizah algısı toplam puan, mutluluk doyum, kaygı, popülarite ve fiziksel alan puan ortalamaları ile ilişkili bulundu. Literatürdeki diğer çalışmalarla kıyaslandığında bu çalışmada alınan ortalama puanlar diğer çalışmadaki ortalama puanlardan genel olarak daha düşük bulundu. Ebeveynlerle okul sağlığı alanında uzman kişilerin, işbirliği yaparak benlik saygısı konusunda farkındalığın geliştirilmesi, ayrıca benlik saygısı bakımından kızların erkeklere göre daha fazla risk altında olduğunun akılda tutulması öğrencilerde gelişebilecek ruh sağlığı sorunlarını önleme olanağı sağlayabilir. According to the practice of contemporary public health medicine; while the individual is treated as a spiritual and bodily whole, the family, work and social environment in which the individual is involved should also be studied. Self-esteem is an issue that needs to be emphasized in terms of both the mental health problems that can develop secondary to the concept of negative self and the achievements to be gained by the development of healthy self concept. elf-esteem has become a widely discussed and debated concept in the field of psychology and later in medicine and social sciences, and in society especially after its relation to academic achievement. In this study, it was aimed to examine the effect of parental attitudes on the self-esteem and its relation with some variables of the students in the 9th class of the private schools in Isparta province center. It was planned to examine the whole of the universe without sampling. After obtaining the required permissions, the data collection form was applied to 239 students (reaching rate 80.2%) in the mentioned schools at the time which was deemed appropriate by school administrators. Piers Harris Self concept Scale was used in order to measure the self-esteem concept and Parental Attitude Scale was used in order to measure parents' attitudes. The limit value for statistical significance was accepted as p <0,05. The total scores and sub-domains of the Children's Self-Concept Scale were found to be correlated with parental attitudes. The total score, happiness satisfaction, anxiety and popularity subscale scores of males were higher than females. Humor perception was found to be related to the total score, happiness satisfaction, anxiety, popularity and physical field score averages. When compared to other studies in the literature, the average scores in this study were generally lower than the average scores in other studies. Developing awareness of self-esteem by parents and specialists in school health, in addition to keeping in mind that girls are at more risk than boys in terms of self-esteem; will provide the opportunity to prevent mental health problems in students.
