Bu çalışmada, tekstiller için katkı materyali olarak kullanılmak üzere gizli ısı enerjisi depolama ve yayma özellikli nanokapsüllerin üretimi amaçlanmıştır. Bu amaç için, n-dodekanol ve 1-tetradekanol faz değiştiren madde olarak kullanılmış ve poli(metil metakrilat-ko-metakrilamid) ve poli(metil metakrilat-ko-metakrilik asit) duvarlar ile kapsüllenmiştir. Nanokapsüller su içinde yağ emülsiyon polimerizasyon metodu kullanılarak üretilmiştir. Emülsiyon polimerizasyonu tek aşamalı ve iki aşamalı olarak modifiye edilmiş ve bu prosesler ile üretilen nanokapsüller sırasıyla tek duvarlı ve çift duvarlı olarak isimlendirilmiştir. Çalışmada, poli(metil metaktilat) iç duvar ve poli(metil metakrilat-ko-metakrilamid) veya poli(metil metakrilat-ko-metakrilik asit) çift duvarlı nanokapsüller üretilmiştir. Böylece, poli(metil metakrilat) homopolimer iç duvar oluşturmak suretiyle nanokapsül duvar yapısının termal, mekanik ve kimyasal özelliğinin geliştirilmesi amaçlanmıştır. Metakril amid veya metakrilik asit monomerini nanokapsül dış duvarına yerleştimek suretiyle duvarın kimyasal reaktivitesinin artırılması amaçlanmıştır. Çalışmada bu hedelere ulaşmak için tek duvarlı ve çift duvarlı olarak üretilen aynı duvar yapısına sahip nanokapsüllerin özellikleri karşılaştırılmıştır. Üretilen nanokapsüllerin kimyasal yapısı, mikroyapısı, ısıl enerji depolama özellikleri ve termal stabilitesi sırasıyla Fourier dönüşüm infrared (FT-IR) spektroskopisi, geçirimli elektron mikroskobu (TEM), diferansiyel taramalı kalorimetre (DSC) ve termal gravimetrik analiz (TGA) ile analiz edilmiştir. Karakterizasyon sonuçları, yağ alkollerinin her iki proses ile de başarılı bir şekilde nanokapsüllendiğini ve kapsüllerin enerji depolama kapasitelerinin 175 J/g'a kadar ulaştığını göstermiştir. Her iki metot kullanılarak üretilen, n-dodekanol ve 1-tetradekanol içeren nanokapsüllerin entalpi değerlerinin oldukça yüksek olduğu ve onların termal enerji depolama materyalleri olarak kullanılabileceği görülmüştür. TEM görüntülerine göre, çekirdek-duvar yapılı, küresel şekilli nanokapsüller başarılı bir şekilde üretilmiştir. İki aşamlı olarak üretilen kapsüllerin duvar kalınlığında nano ölçekli artış belirlenmiştir ve bu artış kapsüllerin entalpilerinde önemli değişime neden olmuştur. Poli(metilmetakrilat-ko-metakrilik asit) çift duvarlı nanokapsüllerin entalpi değerleri tek duvarlı kapsüllerinkine göre daha yüksektir. Buna karşın poli(metil metakrilat-ko-metakrilamid) çift duvarlı nanokapsüllerin entalpi değeri tek duvarlı nanokapsüllerinkinden daha düşüktür. DSC ve TGA analiz sonuçlarına göre, çift duvarlı nanokapsüllerin kimyasal ve termal dirençleri gelişmiştir. Ancak, poli(metil metakrilat-ko-metakrilamid) çift duvarlı nanokapsüllerin kimyasal stabilitesi beklenildiği kadar yüksek seviyede gelişmemiştir. Çalışmanın ikinci bölümünde, eş eksenli elektrostatik lif çekim yöntemi ile ısıl enerji depolama özellikli bikomponent nanolif üretimi gerçekleştirilmiştir. Nanoliflerin öz kısmına ısı depolama özellikli nanokapsüller yerleştirilmiştir. Nanoliflerin kimyasal yapıları, morfolojileri, ısıl özellikleri ve nanokapsüllerin lif yapısındaki yerleşimi ve dağılımı sırasıyla FT-IR spektroskopisi, SEM, DSC analizleri ve T-history testi ile incelenmiştir. Yapılan analizler ısı depolama özellikli nanoliflerin başarılı bir şekilde üretildiğini, nanokapsüllerin lif yapısında homojen ve düzenli dağıldığını ve nanoliflerin ısı düzenleme özelliğine sahip olduğunu ortaya koymuştur. Çalışmada son olarak, poli(metil metakrilat-ko-metakrilamid) duvarlı nanokapsüller kimyasal olarak modifiye edilmiş pamuklu kumaşlara çektirme metodu kullanılarak uygulanmıştır. Nanokapsül aplikasyonundan önce pamuk selülozu, anyonik karakterini geliştirmek için tanik asit ile kimyasal olarak modifiye edilmiştir. Kapsüllerin kumaş yüzeyindeki kalıcılığı ve homojen dağılımı SEM görüntüleri ile doğrulanmıştır. Nanokapsüllenmiş yağ alkolü tarafından serbest bırakılan enerjiden kaynaklanan kumaş ısı düzenleme özelliği T-History test ile araştırılmıştır. Kumaşların yıkama öncesi ve tekrar eden yıkamalar sonrası T-history test sonuçlarına göre, yıkamaya karşı dayanıklı ısı düzenleme özelliği kanıtlanmıştır. Ayrıca, çift duvarlı nanokapsül içeren kumaşlar için, nanokapsüllerin selüloza karşı artan afinitesinden dolayı daha fazla kapsülün kumaşa bağlanmasından kaynaklanan daha gelişmiş ısı düzenleme özelliği elde edilmiştir. Dolayısıyla, iki aşamalı emülsiyon polimerizasyonu prosesinin dış yüzeylerinde daha fazla reaktif grup içeren ve daha yüksek ısıl ve kimyasal dirence sahip nanokapsül üretmek için kullanılabileceği sonucuna ulaşılmıştır. In this study, it was aimed to produce nanocapsules with latent heat energy storage and releasing property in order to be used as additive material for textiles. For this aim, n-dodecanol and 1-tetradecanol were used as phase change material and encapsulated by poly(methy metharcylate-co-methacrylamid) and poly(methy metharcylate-co-methacrylic acid) walls. Nanocapsules were fabricated using oil-in-water emulsion polymerization method. Emulsion polymerization process was modified as one-stage and two-stage processes and nanocapsules prepared using these processes were named as single walled nanocapsules and double walled nanocapsules, respectively. In the study, double walled nanocapsules having a poly(methyl methacrylate) inner shell and a poly(methyl methacrylate-co-methacrylamide) or poly(methy metharcylate-co-methacrylic acid) outer shell structure were produced using two-stage process. Therefore, it was aimed to improve the thermal, mechanical and chemical property of the nanocapsule shell structure by means of forming poly(methyl methacrylate) homo polymer inner wall. Increasing the chemical reactivity of the wall by means of settling methacrylamid or methacrylic acid monomer in outer wall was aimed. In the study, it was compared the properties of the nanocapsules prepared by using one-stage and two-stage processes. In this study, the properties of nanocapsules with single wall and double walls were compared. The chemical structure, microstructure, thermal energy storage properties and thermal stability of the prepared nanocapsules were analyzed by Fourier-transform infrared (FT-IR) spectroscopy, transmission electron microscopy (TEM), differential scanning calorimeter (DSC) and thermogravimetric analyzer (TGA), respectively. The characterization results showed that fatty alcohols were successfully nanoencapsulated by both of processes and their energy storage capacities reached up to 175 J/g. It has been shown that the enthalpy values of the nanocapsules produced with both methods, containing n-dodecanol and 1-teradecanol, were quite high and they could be used as thermal energy storage materials. According to the TEM images, spherical shaped nanocapsules in core-shell structure were produced successfully. It was determined a nano-size increase in the shell thickness of the capsules prepared by two-stage process and it caused to an significant change in their enthalpy values. The enthalpy values of the double walled nanocapsules having poly(methyl methacrylate-co-methacrylamide) wall was higher than that of the single walled nanocapsules. However, the enthalpy values of the double walled nanocapsules having poly(methy metharcylate-co-methacrylic acid) wall was lower than that of the single walled nanocapsules. According to the results of the DSC and TGA analysis, chemical and thermal resistance of the double walled nanocapsule produced by wo-stage process was improved. However, improving of the chemical stability of the double walled nanocapsules with poly(methyl methacrylate-co-methacrylamide wall was not as high as expected. In the second part of the study, bicomponent nanofiber production with thermal energy storage was performed by coaxial electrostatic spinning method. The nanocapsules with heat storage property were placed on the core of the nanofibers. The chemical structure, morphology, thermal properties of the nanofibers and settlement and distribution of the nanocapsules in fiber structure were investigated by FT-IR spectroscopy, SEM, DSC analysis and T-history test, respectively. The results of the analyzes and test showed that nanofibers with heat storage were produced successfully, the nanocapsules were homogeneous and uniformly distributed in the fiber structure and the nanofibers had the ability to regulate heat. In the study, nanocapsules with poly(methyl methacrylate-co-methacrylamide) wall were applied to the chemically modified cotton fabrics using exhaustion method. Before application of the nanocapsules, cotton cellulose was chemically modified with tannic acid to improve its anionic character. The durability and homogeneous distribution of the capsules on the fabric surface was confirmed by SEM images. Thermo-regulating effects of the fabrics resulting from the latent heat releasing by the nanoencapsulated fatty alcohol were investigated by T-History test. According to the test results of the fabrics, which were measured before and after repeated washings, the washing durable thermo-regulating effect has been proved. Besides, more advanced thermoregulation properties for the fabrics containing double walled nanocapsule were obtained due to more nanocapsule were bind to the fabrics due to increase affinity of nanocasules to the cellulose. Thereby, it was concluded that two-stage emulsion polymerization process could be used to fabricate nanocapsules having more reactive group on their outer surface and more thermal and chemical stability.
