Bu çalışmada, karbon esaslı polipropilen (PP) kompozitlerin titreşim sönümleyici bileşen olarak otomotiv sektöründe kullanılabilirliği araştırılmıştır. Bu sebep ile, farklı karbon bileşiklerine sahip (% 1 ve % 0,1 grafit, %0,01 grafen ve % 0,1 çok duvarlı karbon nanotüp (MWCNT)) polipropilen (PP) kompozitlerin darbe sönümleme, dinamik mekanik analizleri ve akustik ölçüm testleri yapılarak saf PP'e göre karşılaştırılmıştır. Polipropilen, içerisine katılan katkı maddeleri ile birlikte bilyalı öğütücüde 35 MFI'de öğütülmüş ve ekstrüzyon işlemiyle granül haline getirilmiştir. Elde edilen beş farklı granül kullanılarak plastik enjeksiyon ve sıcak presleme yoluyla yapılacak test standartlarına uygun deney numuneleri basılmış ve bu numuneler darbe sönümleme, dinamik mekanik analiz (DMA) ve akustik testlere tabi tutulmuştur. Hazırlanan kompozitlerin darbe sönümleme oranları, kuvvet iletebilirlikleri, depolama, kayıp modülleri, camsı geçiş sıcaklığı, ses iletim ve ses yutma katsayıları hesaplanmıştır. Üretilen test numunelerin teorik yoğunlukları ile ölçülen yoğunlukları kıyaslandığında görülen yoğunluktaki azalma hazırlanan kompozitlerin içerisinde gözenek yapının varlığını ortaya koymuştur. Farklı gözenek yüzdelerine sahip kompozitlerin darbe sönümleme ve akustik ölçümlere olan etkisi de ayrıca incelenmiştir. Yapılan analizler neticesinde, % 0,01 grafen katkılı numunenin diğer numunelere göre en iyi darbe sönümleme özelliğine sahip olduğu gözlenmiştir. % 0,01 Grafen katkısının saf polipropilene göre, kompozitin depolama ve kayıp modüllerini yükseltirken, camsı geçiş sıcaklığını düşürdüğü böylelikle işletim parametrelerini iyileştirdiği sonucuna varılmıştır. Ayrıca % 0,1 MWCNT katkısının ses iletim kaybını yükseltmesine karşılık % 0,01 grafen katkısının ses iletim kaybını düşürdüğü tespit edilmiştir. Elde edilen sonuçlar grafen katkılı PP kompozitin alternatif bir titreşim sönümleyici bileşen olarak kullanılmasının yanı sıra MWCNT katkılı PP kompozitlerin yapısal farklılığı, düşük gözeneklilik ve PP kompozit içerisindeki katkı miktarı nedeni ile alternatif bir ses yalıtımı malzemesi olarak kullanılabilirliğini ortaya koymaktadır. In this study, usability of carbon added polypropylene (PP) composites as a vibration damping component in the automotive sector was investigated. For this reason, vibration damping, dynamic mechanical analysis and acoustic performance of PP composites including carbon compounds such 1% and 0.1% graphite, 0.01% graphene and 0.1% multi-walled carbon nanotube (MWCNT) added samples were performed and compared each together against pure PP composite. Carbon added PP was milled in ball mills at 35 MFI and mixed with selected carbon additives after that granulated by extrusion process, respectively. By using five different components as granules, test samples were formed according to the corresponding test standards. For instance, plastic injected samples are for impact damping, dynamic mechanical analysis (DMA) while hot pressed samples are for acoustic test purpose. Impact damping ratio, force transmissibility, storage-loss modules, glass transition temperature, sound transmission loss and sound absorption coefficients of the prepared composites were calculated. Once the theoretical density of the test specimens was compared with the measured density, the decrease in the density observed revealed that of the pore structure in the as-prepared composites. The effects of composites with different pore percentages on impact damping and acoustic measurements were also investigated. As a result of analyzes, it was clearly observed that the 0.01% graphene added composites had the best impact damping properties compared to the others. It was concluded that the 0.01% graphene additive improves the operating parameters of the composite when increasing the storage and loss modules of the composite while decreasing the glass transition temperature. In addition, it was determined the graphene added PP composites decreased the sound transmission loss while the 0.1% MWCNT added PP composites increase of sound transmission loss. The results show that the graphene added PP composites can be used as an alternative vibration damping component as well as MWCNT added PP composites can be used as an alternative sound insulating material due to its morphology differences, low porosity and amount added into the PP composite.
